Excerpt from Choose Me
Our kisses turn soft, less eager, but with more passion. Her hands move from my chest and onto my neck as her fingertips play with my earlobes. Horns honk in the background causing her to pull away, but not before I get another taste of her lips. I don’t know about her, but I’m having a hard time catching my breath and when she pulls away, the pink flush of her cheeks tells me she felt something too.
My Review of Choose Me
Choose me is the conclusion of the story of Evan and Nate Archer and the woman that they both love Ryley Clark. When we left off on Here With Me, there was no telling what was going to unfold. Evan had returned to find the woman that he was supposed to marry now engaged to his brother. His brothers betrayal and his mothers attitude toward the woman he loved enraged Evan, since he’d spent the last 6 years trying to get home to his soon to be wife and child only to find a tombstone and disbelieving family that he could possibly be alive. What he wanted was ANSWERS to why this happened to him, to his family and how to make them pay for what they did.
In this second book we get Nate’s POV and Evan’s POV no longer hearing Ryley’s voice in this process. Nate is stunned to say the least and doesn’t even believe it could possibly be Evan, since he had DNA proof that the body he put to ground was his brother. But even through his disbelief he realized that the connection Ryley and Evan had was evident and Nate struggled with what the right thing to do was. Did he love her enough to make her want him, was their connection and bond more then what she had with Evan. Though I felt a little sympathy for Nate’s plight, I honestly didn’t love him at all. Heidi swore that I would fall for Nate and I’m not sure if I was blinded by how much I loved Evan, and maybe it would have been different had I met Nate earlier… I’m not sure… However Nate’s comments about the boy that is really his “nephew” being his son and how he was always going to be his daddy and stuff really turned me off to him. I honestly never felt like he was the right choice for Ryley at all. I felt like he had a bigger connection with the boy he was raising then he ultimately did with Ryley. When he returned from his mission I never felt the passion between them that I felt between Evan and Ryley.
Overall I was happily surprised by the outcome of the book. I really wasn’t sure which way it was going to turn out. I laughed, I cried, my heart shattered and my heart soared and in the end…. Sigh…. I still love Evan more then words…. Heidi never fails to evoke every feeling imaginable when I read her books…. Just remember it’s not about the destination but the journey getting there… I enjoyed reading this series and I would recommend it, Evan Archer is worth every swoon worthy minute!
