RELEASE BLITZ & REVIEW: THE RECKONING BY S.L. SCOTT

Happy Release Day to S.L. Scott!  Holliday and Dalton are back in this beautiful conclusion to their story, The Reckoning!

the reckoning coverSynopsis:

Jack Dalton was charismatic.

Johnny Outlaw was irresistible.

Two sides of the same man, passionate about two things—music and Holliday Hughes. With her intoxicating mix of strength and vulnerability, confidence and sex appeal, he couldn’t get enough of her.

Together, love was a storm of chaos and calm. When fame became a force to be reckoned with, could their love hold them together or would their notoriety tear them apart?

“This isn’t how our melody goes. This isn’t how we were supposed to play out.”

My Review

I have been a huge fan of S.L. Scott’s books since I read her for the first time.  As time moves on her writing grows and she’s become one of my go to authors when I need a sweet and loving story that will melt my heart.  Though filled with angst and anxiety at times The Reckoning was everything I could have wanted from Dalton and Holliday’s continued love story.

The life of a rock star isn’t always sunshine and roses, and as we know Jack Dalton’s past was haunting and harrowing, fortified in drugs, meaningless sex and life on the road.  The death of his friend Cory hit him hard.  Luckily he’s had Holliday by his side to keep him on the straight and narrow after his last relapse.

Holliday and Jack are so in love you can feel it when reading their convictions to their relationship and each other, but time apart and the media can mess with your mind no matter what your heart tells you. But they tend to  fall victim at times to that evil feeling we call jealousy, and when the media takes things too far, Dalton lets his imagination get the best of him.

My heart broke for both Dalton and Holliday, and made me wonder if this is what it would really be like being a famous couple and having to deal with the doubts that the media coverage puts in your mind about who your spouse truly is.  They are relentless when it comes to this couple, and throughout the book they struggle with keeping a clear head about what’s reality and what’s drummed up fiction.

If you loved The Resistance you will want to read the continuation of this story.  There are a lot of ups and downs in this book, but life and marriage doesn’t come wrapped in pretty pink ribbons, it’s hard and even harder when your in the spotlight.  S.L. Scott does a great job weaving a realistic story that will both break and mend your tender heart.  You will equally want to kill them both at times, sparing no emotion during this read, I laughed and I cried right along with the characters.  In the end I was left feeling wholly satisfied with Dalton and Holliday’s story!

About S.L. Scott

New York Times and USA Today Bestselling Author

New York Times and USA Bestselling Author, S. L. Scott, was always interested in the arts. She grew up painting, writing poetry and short stories, and wiling her days away lost in a good book and the movies.

With a degree in Journalism, she continued her love of the written word by reading American authors like Salinger and Fitzgerald. She was intrigued by their flawed characters living in picture perfect worlds, but could still debate that the worlds those characters lived in were actually the flawed ones. This dynamic of leaving the reader invested in the words, inspired Scott to start writing with emotion while interjecting an underlying passion into her own stories.

Living in the capital of Texas with her family, Scott loves traveling and avocados, beaches, and cooking with her kids. She’s obsessed with epic romances and loves a good plot twist. She dreams of seeing one of her own books made into a movie one day as well as returning to Europe. Her favorite color is blue, but she likens it more toward the sky than the emotion. Her home is filled with the welcoming symbol of the pineapple and finds surfing a challenge though she likes to think she’s a pro.
