Sam: ‘Get a new personality and learn to shut the fuck up.”
― Tarryn Fisher, Dirty Red
To want what you’re not supposed to have…
She is only nineteen.
She is his new stepfather’s daughter.
She is still naïve and innocent due to spending the last three years taking care of her sick mother.
But for twenty-four year old Rush Finlay, she is the only thing that has ever been off limits. His famous father’s guilt money, his mother’s desperation to win his love, and his charm are the three reasons he has never been told no.
Blaire Wynn left her small farmhouse in Alabama, after her mother passed away, to move in with her father and his new wife in their sprawling beach house along the Florida gulf coast. She isn’t prepared for the lifestyle change and she knows she’ll never fit into this world. Then there is her sexy stepbrother who her father leaves her with for the summer while he runs off to Paris with his wife. Rush is as spoiled as he is gorgeous. He is also getting under her skin. She knows he is anything but good for her and that he’ll never be faithful to anyone. He is jaded and has secrets Blaire knows she may never uncover but even knowing all of that…
Abbi does it again with a gripping storyline that is an emotional roller coaster that leaves you short of breath and begging for more! I have read several of Abbi’s books in the past and they have always been captivating. Fallen too Far was no excetption.
Fallen to Far is the perfect title because Darn it if I didn’t fall for Rush in just a few minutes… Well maybe a few Chapters…
From the start Blaire’s character grabbed at me, a small town beautiful girl that has been through WAY too much in recent days. When life throws lemons at Blaire she does the only thing you can and makes lemonade!
When Blair is force to leave her hometown after her mother passes away Blaire has to move to a new town with no friends and an estranged father she hasn’t seen in several years. When she arrives at her fathers new home she is quickly disappointed to find he isn’t there and she is none to happy about it. With no job and her father out of town she has to rely on the cocky, smart and beautiful Rush, who’s ever revolving bedroom door or should I say front door quickly disgusts Blaire. Rush is portrayed to be a spoiled brat and in some ways he is but there is a lot beneath the layers. As the story unfolds you find that Rush is more then just the playboy he appears to be.
Blaire is thrown into a life she doesn’t feel she belongs in and doesn’t fit into. The spoiled rich country club snobs sure do make her painfully aware of this. She is beautiful so immediately the men an drawn to her and the women detest her. In a world of the over privileged she is trying to establish a life for herself but quickly becomes smitten with her step-brother! Who could really blame her Rush puts the H O T in HOT! The twists and turns and the angst and tension between them is heavy… He wants her but knows he shouldn’t for reasons she doesn’t understand, she wants him but believes she isn’t worthy and doesn’t fit into his rich, privileged world.
Blaire is a strong character in this book, she doesn’t really realize her beauty and it is a charming quality. I found myself immediately liking Blaire’s take crap from nobody approach to life, she has been through to much to be pushed around. She has feelings and they get trampled several times throughout the book.
Rush is sexy and smart which takes a bit of time to uncover. In the beginning I was worried that he was just going to be another rich millionaire playboy but I found myself delighted in the fact that what you saw on the outside wasn’t what he had on the inside. He surprised me at times with his protective nature even though he was trying to play it cool.
Knowing as I was nearing the end of the book and that there was going to certainly be a cliffhanger I had to prepare the brain to realize that the end wasn’t the end at all but only the beginning of this story!
The BIG secret that was eluded to through the book wasn’t quite what I was expecting and I found myself pleasantly surprised when it final came out. It was an unexpected and delightful twist.
Abbi delights as always with her witty banter between characters, this book had just the right amount of angst, heart, laughter and tears… Her smooth writing and fantastic character development throughout the story, kept me on my toes and turning pages as quickly as I could go!
SOLID 5 stars on my scales…. This is a great read sure to delight Abbi’s fans and fans of this genre!
You can find out more about Abbi and her other series like The Vincent Boys and Sea Breeze on her website…
She posted a special excerpt from Fallen Too Far from Rush’s POV and it is HOT!!!!

After finally caving to his unwavering pursuit, Sky soon finds that Holder isn’t at all who he’s been claiming to be. When the secrets he’s been keeping are finally revealed, every single facet of Sky’s life will change forever.
My Review of Hopeless by Colleen Hoover
WOW WOW WOW did I say WOW!
I was truly blown away by this book. I have read Colleen’s other books Slammed and Point of Retreat so knowing what she is capable of in delivering a story I was really excited for this read. She didn’t disappoint! The story in itself was simply fantastic and the delivery was spot on!
Sky is your typical 17 year old, OK so really she isn’t typical at all. She lives with her adopted Mother and leads a fairly sheltered life. No electronics and I mean NONE no cell phone, no television, no Internet and she is home schooled. Now from the very beginning of the book I kept saying why? In this day and age how does one live without their iPhone, iPad, Internet and every other modern convenience?
Sky is luck to at least have a neighbor and best friend in Six. Yes I said Six but her name is really Seven? And no this isn’t that strange TV show Blossom from the 80’s… Six moved next store to Sky and they became instant best friends. Unfortunately after convincing her mother Karen to allow her to attend public school her senior year she finds out that Six has been accepted to study abroad and she will be entering her senior year alone.
Sky isn’t really shy but she doesn’t interact well with guys, most of the guys that she knows is through her neighbor who is deemed the school slut, which unfortunately makes Sky her accomplice in such behavior. Sky is everything but a slut actually. She really doesn’t have any interest in guys and whenever she does become “friendly” with them she tends to zone out into her own little world feeling numb. That is until she meets Dean Holder at the local grocery store. From the moment she sees him in the check out line she is completely drawn to him and isn’t sure why. They have a brief and all be it odd conversation in the parking lot where he mistakes her for someone he thinks he knows. What Sky doesn’t know is that Holder is also completely drawn to her but can’t explain why. Sky’s instant attraction is foreign to her because she has NEVER felt this way about a guy before… EVER!
Sky is warned off of Holder with her best friend painting him as the perpetual bad boy! As Sky starts school she realizes quickly what a mistake it was. Sky quickly learns that the legacy that Six left behind seems to have rubbed off on her in the worst way but being the type of girl that she is she shrugs it off and simply doesn’t give into the high school drama. She knows who she is and so does her new best friend in the whole world Breckin. Breckin and Sky form an instant bond since they are both new at the school. With Six gone she is happy to find at least one person in this school that she is willing to be friends with.
Sky is really surprised when Holder enrolls back into the school that she is attending and seems to be in her face everywhere she turns. What she comes to find is that umors are just that rumors. Holder is up front with her about his past when she finally asks the questions about what happened to him the previous year. Holder is very open and honest with his feelings and he is a very deep person. He holds a lot of hurt and anguish over things that have happend in his past.
Sky and Holder seem to find a common ground and become fast friends which leads to more… When she shows up in a bracelet that sparks anger in Holder, he refuses to explain and it sets off somewhat of a chain reaction.
As Sky starts having dreams that she just can’t explain. She feels that they aren’t real but deep down knows that they are in some way. Her story quickly starts to unravel when Holder mistakenly calls her by the wrong name on night while drunk and falling asleep in her bed. This sends her into a flurry of emotions and brings about information that she doesn’t know if she wants but knows that she needs… Holder holds the keys to her past and her world quickly changes and she struggles with the information she is being dealt. It unravels so fast it made my head spin like the girl in The Exorcist!
The end of the book is simply just non-stop twists and turns that had me wondering what could possibly happen next. I was captivated by this story and simply could not put it down.
Colleen’s characters are simply lovable and irresistible! I don’t know how she came up with this story but it was a delight and will be one I will want to read again someday! I don’t have too many of those books I would read again but this is will surely make that list!
I give HOPELESS 5 STARS it was really THAT GOOD!!!!!
This book does deal with abuse so if that is something that truly bothers you maybe this isn’t the book for you but it is dealt with in a delicate manner.
When she accepts the lead in a beach drama, Willow finds herself in Hawaii. And in Hawaii, she finds Cooper, the gorgeous surfer hired to train her for her new role. With the bluest eyes she’s ever seen and the sexiest Australian accent she’s ever heard, Cooper’s different from the men she’s used to. He doesn’t want to use her. And he refuses to let her fail. But when an old friend re-enters Willow’s life—a friend whose toxicity she’s been drawn to time and time before and whose presence brings about the painful memories she’s tried so hard to suppress—Willow will have to choose between the girl she was and the person she’s becoming. The lifestyle that helps her forget the pain and the guy she’s falling hard for.
*A New Adult romance that contains some adult content*
My Review of Tidal by Emily Snow
From the moment that I started Tidal I was sucked into the story. Willow Avery is saucy and sarcastic but she has had a lot in her short life to make her cynical. Growing up as a movie star and leading life in the public eye has certainly not be easy for her. Like many she has grown up issues at a very young age and controlling parents that don’t give her the space or the ability to deal with her issues or talk about them, better swept under the rug and kept out of the tabloids. She is harboring a major secret one that the tabloids have never gotten hold of, but not being able to tell anyone is ripping her apart and makes her turn to drugs.
Fresh out of rehab she is immediately swept away to star in a remake of a film Tidal. Given no time to process what she needs being fresh from rehab, she is flown immediately off to Hawaii to start training with the stunningly handsome Cooper Taylor. Cooper runs a surfing school and is tasked by the movie producer to teach her how to surf for her new role in the upcoming film. Cooper is not without secrets and heartache of his own which Willow comes to find out that he is every bit as broken as she is. Willow finds herself attracted to Cooper instantly, but this confuses her tremendously as she has really shut herself down to emotions through the tragedy she has experienced with relationships in a completely public eye. Willow tries to hide from the feelings but it doesn’t take her long to realize that Cooper is breaking down the walls that she has built up.
Willow is still fighting the desire to turn back to the drugs which have helped her become numb to the pressure to be the perfect daughter and actress that the world seems to be expecting of her. Its a lot of pressure for a 19 year old that has already been dealt a crappy hand in life.
When her friend Jessica a fellow actress comes to Hawaii for a visit and tempts her back into the life, Willow is at a vulnerable low point after having a heartbreaking phone call from her mother. Willow could easily revert to her old ways and numbing habits. During Jessica’s visit a secret that is revealed about Cooper leaves her feeling worse and causes her to feel betrayed. Willow decides to reveal all to Cooper in her secrets, but doesn’t know that she is revealing them to someone other then Cooper. She creates quite a mess and in the end gets the help that she truly needs to overcome her heartache and deal with the secret that she is harboring. Cooper being a man of his word is truly there for her in the end and brings her the happiness that she so desires with one very BIG SURPRISE even I never saw coming!!!
The book gets a solid 5 stars from me. The flow of the book was wonderful and kept me wanting more and more every page I read. It still left me wanting even more at the end…
I love Willow and Cooper and what can I say I am a sucker for blue eyed Australian beach bums! Emily knocks it out of the park with Tidal!!!
Get the book and read Tidal you won’t be disappointed!
LAST CHRISTMAS by Marie Coulson
If you haven’t read Bound Together you must read it first…
A novella in Ollie’s point of view. This book is a follow on from Marie Coulson’s debut novel Bound Together.
How do you get over a love you can’t live without? How do you move on? It’s been months since she left but Layla Jennings, has left more than Long Beach behind. She’s also left Ollie and his shattered heart.
Last Christmas I had everything I’d ever dreamed of. The perfect place, the perfect gift and the perfect girl. And now it’s all gone. It’s lost in a sea of broken promises, lies, cheating and torn hearts. Christmas won’t be the same without you and I’m damned if I’ll let myself wallow. But how can I let go of us, when I can’t stop thinking about you? It’s Christmas time in Utah, but my mind is on you. It’s across oceans, miles away and this year, all I want for Christmas…is you.
I loved bound together and at the end of the book I was thrilled with the choice that Layla made. After reading this Novella I am not sure I am 100% Team Jared. I am not usually one for switching up sides when it comes to books but this little Novella made my heart ache for Ollie.
After Layla sends Ollie a text message telling him they are over, Ollie tries for a year to get over the broken heart and hole that Layla has left him with. He does some not so nice things in this little Novella. But I found myself understanding why he was doing them, not that I agree with his method because it never does solve his problem.
What surprised me most was Mel and Amy. When Oliver decides to make another visit for Christmas to California they offer to bring him back to Mel’s parents house, which happens to be across the street from Layla’s family home. I was surprised at the way that they handle it in the end and the conclusion that they come to!
It was the perfect connection between Bound Together and the sequel Torn Apart which is due out in the Spring. Marie has a vivid imagination with these characters and a wicked sense of humor. I cannot wait to see where Oliver, Layla and Jared end up when this is over…
Consider me Torn Apart at how I want this to end!!!!!
I give this little Novella a solid 4 STARS it is well written and gives us a good insight into what is to come in the next book.
If you haven’t read Bound Together pick it up here…
I recently was told by a few friends that I needed to start my own book blog. I thought about it before but didn’t really know if this was something I would want to do or be good at. I am going to give it a shot! I really enjoy reading and have read many books over the past year. I decided on a whim to grab the first Twilight book on a flight home to the east coast from San Francisco in August 2011. Since then I have read well over 200 books and my list grows weekly sometimes daily. Just this morning I was updating my list of books that I am waiting for and I have over 50 books on the list not to mention all the books that I haven’t found yet! I am excited to try to bring you my recommendations and talk and meet new people with the same love of books! I will try to go back and review some of my favorite books from the last year as well as keep this blog updated with up and coming books!!!! I am really excited to start this blog and hope you all enjoy my views and my enthusiasm for books.
