Title: Then, Again
Author: Karen Stivali
Genre: Adult Contemporary Romance
Publication Date: May 21, 2013
ASIN: B00B99RJR8
Publisher: Samhain Publishing, Ltd.

Synopsis:

Sometimes you have to lose it all to find what you really need.

Photographer Kay Turner is dealt a double whammy when she flies home for her grandmother’s funeral to find her boyfriend with another woman. Now with two losses to mourn, she retreats to her newly inherited beach house to clear her head.

Everything at the beach is familiar: the sounds of the ocean, the scent of her grandmother’s perfume—and the irresistible smile of James Margolis. The man Kay spent her adolescence pining for is every bit as charming as she remembers.

James always thought of Kay as “a nice kid”, but he feels something very different for the woman she’s become. Especially when he asks if she’d be willing to part with some of her grandmother’s recipes for his new restaurant—and they wind up sharing much more than culinarysecrets.

But as their relationship deepens, Kay finds herself caught between the demands of her dream career as a travel photographer, and a chance for happiness with the one man she’s wanted for a lifetime.

Warning: This foodie romance contains sensual scone baking, a heroine who discovers one bad apple hasn’t spoiled her appetite, and a delicious hero you can’t help but crave. Blend well, serve hot.

Tonya’s Review of Then Again

When Kay returned home for her Grandmother’s funeral to find a strange woman in her kitchen wearing nothing but Kay’s boyfriend’s shirt, all she could think about was escaping to her favorite place, her newly inherited beach house. Everything there reminded her of her summers growing up with her Grandmother, and her secret crush James. When she just happens to run into James at his family’s fish market and he invites her to his restaurant to taste one of her grandmother’s recipes, how could she say no?? He is still as hot as ever and Kay can’t help but feel those old feelings stirring.

One look at the grown up Kimmy, or Kay as she is called now, and James remembers all the feelings he had for her when they were younger. He’d do just about anything to spend more time with her for as long as she decides to stick around. Neither one of them expects what a few shared recipes turns into.

I absolutely loved this story!! Kay was so down to earth, personable and likeable. I found it was almost impossible NOT to cry at her Grandmother’s funeral. My heart felt for her after everything she had been through and was going to have to go through. She was going to have to make some very tough decisions alone. And James, what a sweetheart!! Always just being there for her. When he asked Kay for a few of her grandmother’s recipes for the restaurant he was opening and she offered to teach him how to make them, I knew things were going to get interesting. It was pretty apparent from the start that they both still had some very strong feelings and neither was going to be happy with just being friends. Of course Kay was going to be a little cautious after what she had just gone through with her ex but she also knew that James was not that kind of man.

James has the patience of a Saint. When it comes time to decide whether to stay at the shore and live in the beach house or go back to the job she loves as a traveling photographer which will she choose? Which does she love more? And will she be happy with her choice??

This book made me want to scream, cry, and at times shake my head out of frustration. But in the end everything is as it’s meant to be and all those emotions are well worth experiencing just to get the full effect of “Jimmy and Kimmy”… I personally would have to give Then Again 4.5 stars.

Is Hunter willing to be disloyal to his best friends in order to be with the one girl he’s always secretly wanted?

Jenn’s Review of Trying Not to Love You

So for the second week in a row I am totally smitten with a book and this time, Megan Smith’s Trying Not to Love You has me sitting up and begging for more….  not to mention that her main male character shares a name with my son, which is also the second time in two weeks one of my kids names was used in a book… odd right? LOL!

I loved this book hand down!  The characters are just awesome!  MacKenzie and Hunter are a great book couple, but the supporting cast around them is just as amazing!  Her brothers all play a very important role and you can really get the sense of how this family is so close nit.  There were some seriously tense moments in the exchanges between her and her brothers.  This is what happens when you fall in love with your brothers best friend.

She was so torn between the love of her brothers and the love of her life.  She was physically and emotionally ill over the whole thing and I could totally relate to her.  I’ve felt that myself in the past so I really could understand her emotional state.  I wanted to hug her and tell her that if it was meant to be it would all work out.

There were some twists in this book that were so well hidden by all the rest of the coming and going on, that when it popped out of nowhere I had to think back and say to myself how did I NOT see that coming!  Yeah it was a like a freight train….. does it all work out?  I have no idea cause Megan left me hanging and I mean hanging… the end left me screaming NO NO NO!!!!

This book is very well written and I think that you will enjoy these characters and fall in love with all of them just as I did.  Megan has done a fantastic job crafting this story and I am happy to give her my 5 star seal of approval for this one!  It was emotional, kept me guessing and interested from the first page to the very end, and then left me begging her to write faster because I need to know what happens next…

Teaser from Ambrosia

Standing there, staring into his captivating eyes, a wave of desire passed over me. Desire for him to hold me, kiss me, tell me everything was going to be okay. I was pretty sure he felt something too but all of a sudden, he spun me around to face the door and said, “You. Shower. Now.”

I took a quick shower and got dressed for bed so that he could do the same. I made my way back to the guest room and slipped into the cool, crisp sheets. The last thing I remembered before passing out was the opening and closing of the bathroom door.

At some point in the middle of the night, I woke myself up crying from an awful nightmare where Evie kept appearing and telling me she knew what I had done. Within seconds, the door opened and he came directly to the bed. Without waiting for me to say anything, he laid down in the bed and scooped me into his arms.

“It’s okay, Scarlett. I’m here. It’s gonna be okay,” he whispered into my hair as he rubbed my back.

After a few minutes, I had calmed down and my breathing had returned to normal. “Sorry,” I said softly.

“Stop. Don’t apologize. You haven’t done anything.”

I didn’t say anything for a few minutes, thinking about how wrong he was. I figured there was never going to be a good time to tell him, so as we lay there in the dark, I blurted it out.

Twenty-seven year old Carrie Thompson-Sherman has the life she always wanted: her PhD, a prestigious fellowship, and an amazing husband.

Her life begins to unravel as a jealous colleague puts her fellowship in jeopardy and a haunting secret Ray Sherman carried home from Afghanistan comes to light.

Hounded by a federal investigation and the ensuing media feeding frenzy, Carrie and Ray desperately lean on each other, until a disastrous accident puts both Ray and her sister’s lives at risk.

In the last hour, Carrie and Ray will each find themselves faced with a choice.

A choice that will change everything.

EXCERPT

I heard the doors shut, and it was darker inside the ambulance. Then we were rolling, and I heard the siren wail. From my position flat on my back, with my head and body immobilized, I couldn’t see much, only a rack of equipment and monitors. One of the EMTs stared at a monitor, reading off numbers to the other, who took notes. The ambulance hit a pothole, and I felt myself lurch, then we were slowing down, the horn blaring. It was so loud, my head hurt, and I was queasy.

“Ma’am, I’m going to ask you some questions, it will save time when we get to the hospital.”

“Yes,” I croaked. I searched with my eyes until I saw the EMT. He was dark skinned, his head shaven, wearing a dark green uniform. He looked confident.

“Let’s start with your name?”

“Carrie.” My voice shook. “Carrie … uh … Thompson-Sherman.” I closed my eyes. I must have hit my head harder than I thought. Fear ran through me again. Was Ray okay? Sarah and Jessica?

“Okay, Carrie. I’m Jared,” the EMT said in a reassuring tone. “As far as we can tell, you’re in pretty good shape. A possible concussion, but no broken bones, no bleeding. We have your neck immobilized to protect against any spinal cord damage, but we’re sure you’ll be all right. I want you to stay relaxed.”

I tried to nod and scratched out, “Relaxed.”

I had to blink back tears. How the hell did they expect me to relax? I still saw the car in my mind, a huge green Jeep barreling down on us. Ray’s head slamming against the glass. The glass shattering, flying toward my face.

“Good, Carrie. Now, can you tell me your age?”

I had to think again. “Twenty-six. No. Twenty-seven.”

“Are you taking any medications? Are there any medical conditions we should be concerned about?”

“No,” I whispered.

“Can you tell us who else was in the vehicle with you?”

I stifled a sob. “Ray. And my sisters. Sarah and Jessica. They were visiting.” My voice trailed off and I paused before I spoke again. “They got here last night. From San Francisco. Is … are … are they okay?”

“Everyone’s going to be fine, Carrie.”

I tried to swallow. My throat was dry, swollen. We hit another bump, and my throat swelled with vomit. “Oh God,” I mumbled as the bile came up my throat.

The EMTs rushed forward, and Jared ordered, “Suction.” Acid flooded my mouth, and I puked, and puked again, everything I’d eaten and drunk that day coming up in a huge rush as one of them stuck a tube in my mouth to suck it out, leaving me gagging, tears running down my face.

I wanted to curl up and cry. I wanted to find Ray and my sisters. There was nothing I could do, but lay there gagging and smelling my own filth. My eyes rolled up, the noxious smell making me vomit again, as if there was anything left to expel. Finally, I whispered, “I think I’m done.”

They just ignored me, and the one with the suction device continued for a few seconds more. My throat burned.

Jared wiped some of the bile from my face with a sanitary wipe as the other EMT took away the suction. “Is there anyone we can call? Family?”

I closed my eyes, trying not to groan.

I answered the question. “Please … call my sister, Alexandra.” Alexandra was my closest relative geographically, only a few hours away in New York. I gave him the number, and he wrote it down. The ambulance swayed and rocked, then another thump as we ran over yet another pothole. I closed my eyes, trying to ignore the nausea. I must have a concussion.

I hoped they’d call Alexandra right away. Please God, don’t let Dylan be the one to answer the phone. He would know how to get a hold of Ray’s parents, but he would take some calming down. Dylan and Ray had served in Afghanistan together, and were as close as brothers. Closer.

I was so scared.

They’re working on getting the others out of the vehicle.

What did that mean? How badly were they injured?

I didn’t have any answers, and I felt darkness closing in, and I was so sleepy.

“Ma’am … you need to stay awake. You may have a concussion. Open your eyes.”

I fought to open them and tried to speak. My throat was so dry I couldn’t do any more than croak. “You’ll call my sister?” I asked. “Please?”

Jared put his hand on my shoulder. “We will. I promise.”

“Thank you,” I whispered.

It was the longest ride of my life.

His mother tried to keep him safe; a low profile, a constant move on the horizon, a week’s pay always stashed away. She tried to instill in him that he was special somehow, though would never elaborate. He never felt different. But then she was murdered and all he saw was a running silhouette of a man as his mother said three final words to him. Three words that changed his whole being.

Never stop running…

Now he’s semi-settled into a big town. The college is huge and easy to blend into. It’s been three months since he had to move because ‘Biloxi’, as he calls the man who killed his mother, found him once more. Then

BLOG TOUR INTERVIEW, REVIEW AND GIVEAWAY: FINALLY FOUND BY NICOLE ANDREWS MOORE

Synopsis:

Where one story ends, often another begins. For some reason, Adam Davenport can’t see past the ending. The hit and run has forced him to slow down and stop running from the pain of losing his parents. He has tried to hide behind meaningless, superficial relationships and even more shallow friendships, but the time has come to face his loneliness. Now he is finally ready to start being a family with his brother Sam. However, Sam and Haley, who was once Sam’s personal assistant, are too busy basking in their newfound love. Though breaking the rules for the first time ever has changed Sam’s life for the better, Adam has always broken the rules, strayed from responsibility, and done as little as he could get away with.

One of the main reasons that he refused to believe that Cammie was more than friend material was because she was impervious to his charms. She was so driven and determined to make her new catering company a success that she couldn’t see past her own dreams. Suddenly, Adam found himself behaving in ways he never imagined. He was working to impress a woman, but more than that, he was working to help make her dreams come true. He soon realizes that there are times in life when giving is more important than taking and when helping someone else is more important than what that person can do to reciprocate. He also learns there are times that the biggest risk is to stop hiding from emotions and to start allowing love to finally be found.

My Interview with Adam Davenport

So today I am finally getting to sit down with the dreamy Adam Davenport… I have been smitten with Adam for some time now and I am so excited to sit down and talk with him. We decided to meet at Cammie’s Meals I figured we might as well go somewhere he will be comfortable…

I walk into the café and immediately notice Cammie behind the counter I wave to her and walk over to introduce myself to her. I’m not interviewing her but I wanted to meet her.

JENN: Hi Cammie, I’m Jennifer.” (I hold out my hand to her) “It’s so nice to meet you and thanks for letting me have your man for a little bit. (I say as I wink at her)

Cammie: Nice to meet you, Jennifer. And if you had been here yesterday, I would have let you keep him. (She winks)

JENN: (Laughing) Oh no he in the dog house again?

Cammie just rolls her eyes chuckling and points toward the man himself.

I spot Adam sitting at one of the tables out of the corner of my eye, and I immediately flush… so yeah I’ve been crushing on him for so long it seems, god he is gorgeous in person!!!! I shake my head to clear my thoughts and nervously approach him as he looks up from his newspaper… It’s early morning and his ritual is reading the paper I smile remembering too many details about this man!!! I chuckle to myself as Adam stands to greet me.

JENN: Good Morning Adam it’s so nice to finally meet you. (I hold my hand out to him shyly, and I can feel the heat in my cheeks again)

Adam: Well, it’s so nice to be able to make someone blush. (He raises his voice intentionally.) I no longer seem to have that effect on my wife.

Cammie walked over to take my drink order and pour Adam more coffee.

Cammie: I heard you. And for the record, you never made me blush.

Adam: Are you sure? Because I distinctly recall one time…

(I start laughing again they really are quite adorable and funny)

Cammie: (to me) Please, have a seat, Jennifer. Enjoy your visit.

I sigh and sit down while fidgeting with my pen, god he makes me nervous… (Ok deep breath and focus)

JENN: I’m so glad we are getting to talk in person Adam; I have wanted to meet you for a long time now.

Adam: Well, thank you. Apparently my reputation precedes me.

JENN: Shall we get started?

Adam: Absolutely. Ask me anything.

JENN: I want to say first of all that what you did when you saved Haley was absolutely heroic. I think I probably cried a few tears when you got hurt. What was going through your mind at the time that happened?

Adam: Honestly, all I could think was that if anything happened to Haley, Sam would kill me so I suddenly was less afraid of death by vehicle.

JENN: So when Haley and Sam surprised you with the birthday party, and you met Cammie you were pretty down on yourself. You really seemed to hate how shallow she made you feel… I wanted to hug you because you were so sad. Did you ask her for the ride to try to prove to her that you weren’t as shallow as she assumed?

Adam: That would have been nice, but no. She was there. We had a rapport, even if it wasn’t a good one. And I had a need. Several, actually. As it turned out, she managed to fulfill all of them and more over the next week…and all the years since.

JENN: Looking back do you think you came up with the idea for her to stay simply because you didn’t want to be alone? Or do you think that even then you knew that you didn’t want her to ever leave. I do have to say that your little plan was brilliant even though it was totally unplanned.

Adam: These things…just come to me! I didn’t really want to be alone, but more than that, the more I talked to her, I didn’t want to be without her.

JENN: When you started making “The List” (I winked at him) did it upset you that you had really discarded so many women even though you were honest upfront about your intentions?

Adam: (sighed) It really did. In making The List, I realized how shallow I had been. All those years I comforted myself by saying that I was honest and upfront, as if that made any of my choices more acceptable. Facing my shortcomings was painful. I’m just lucky I had Cammie to help me through it.

JENN: What was going through your head when you finally found out who Cammie’s sister was and that you actually didn’t forget her?

Adam: Vindication. I felt that somehow everything was going to work out.

JENN: Did Cammie ever come clean and tell you that she saw the list?

Adam: She saw The List? (Calling to Cammie who stood frozen in the kitchen) Oh, baby, is there anything you would like to tell me? Any confessions you want to share?

Cammie: (drying a mug) Nope. Nothing comes to mind. Must be pregnancy brain.

I’m now laughing hysterically.

JENN: (I yell in her direction) Sorry Cammie didn’t mean to let the cat out of the bag.

Thankfully Adam and Cammie are both laughing. We finally calm down and continue the interview.

JENN: I have to say that I was worried several times that you and her were just not going to end up on the same page and from the outside I knew that you two were just perfect for each other. She is one stubborn woman. Did you ever think that you would end up where you are now?

Adam: Honestly, I was hoping to ease into this. I hoped I might lure her into living with me on account of I had that kitchen she loved and wanted. We’re something of a package deal…my kitchen and me. Only that plan was pretty much put on steroids, as you well know. I never imagined that we’d end up together, but I also couldn’t imagine my life without her.

JENN: You are quite the romantic was your father a romantic? We know that Sam can be quite romantic when he wants to be and I wondered if it was learned from him?

Adam: For the record, Sam learned romance from me. I coached him through that relationship. And he still has yet to thank me for it as a matter of fact. I remember my father being more practical than romantic, but my mother was all heart.

JENN: You and Cammie have some serious banter throughout the story are you still the same way? Does she still challenge you at every turn and in every way?

Adam: Watch this. (Yelling to Cammie…) So, after you provide me with my male heir, you should probably stay home and have someone else run this café.

Cammie: You know I love being your Sugar Mama. How could I give all this up to stay home and take care of three kids?

Adam: You and your pregnancy brain. I count two.

Cammie: Plus daddy makes three. (shaking her head)

(OMG These two crack me up… So typical and just like their story I guess some things never change right?)

JENN: What’s your biggest regret?

Cammie: Ask me! Oh, crap. Did I say that out loud?

Adam: (chuckles) I wish I had paid attention to Cammie sooner. I wish I hadn’t wasted so much time before making this life with her.

JENN: What’s your biggest fear?

Adam: (rubs his face with his hands) I’m not good enough for her. I worry about that all the time. What if one morning she comes to her senses and figures out she can do better?

JENN: I love to ask this question of all my interviewees. Tell me one thing that we don’t already know about you. It can be anything you want.

Adam: I tell my wife every day how much I love her. Every. Single. Day.

Cammie: It’s true. I’m blessed.

(I sigh… Could they be any more perfect…)

I take a look at my watch and realize that we have been chatting for quite a while and the café is starting to really fill with a crowd.

JENN: I don’t want to take up much more of your time I’m sure you have things you need to get done. It was really nice meeting you I’m so glad that we finally got to meet up. Maybe in the future I can meet up with you all again.

Cammie: (walking over to the table) I’d love that. (elbows Adam)

Adam: (Winces) Yes, we’d love that.

JENN: Thank you again Adam ( I held out my hand to him) It was really a pleasure meeting you both.

Adam and Cammie smiled, nodded, and shook my hand.)

I walked out of the café as I spied Cammie and Adam sharing a kiss, they both looked up and I smiled at them and waved as I walked out of the building and down the street. I couldn’t hide the smile on my face as I walked, they really are a perfect couple and Adam is so adorable and sweet. Who knew such a hard ass playboy could turn into a lovesick fool…

Well I hope you all enjoyed my interview with Adam. If you want to read more about his and Cammie’s journey pick up Finally Found today! You won’t be sorry, there story is sweet and irresistible!!!!

My review of Finally Found
So you already know that I am smitten with Adam from this book.  I have had a habit lately of falling for the brothers of the hero’s in books.  Although Sam was endearing in Hiding Out, the first book, there was just something about Adam.  After talking with Nicole and hearing that she was going to write Adam’s story I think I might have actually squealed out loud… Yeah I was one happy girl… I had very little detail about this book, but I knew from what she did tell me and the little snippet I got of Adam for my birthday last month, I was going to love Adam’s book!  So maybe I am slightly biased about the character, you can’t tell me that there isn’t one book out there that you have some bias about based on your love of a character.  So anyway enough about my love for Adam let’s talk about the book…
So Adam is a professed playboy right?  Yep he is a guy through and through.  Love em and leave em and then there is no mess.  Until Adam’s accident in which he saved his brothers girlfriend from being run down by an psycho ex, he thought nothing was wrong with this lifestyle.  Adam couldn’t
be more happy being a bachelor living off his trust fund, and having a different woman every night to satisfy his needs… Faced with being alone Adam started to really think about his life and his current status.  No real job, nobody to come home too.  I think he started to get a little jealous of Sam and Haley and what they shared.  Adam sure did meet his match in every way at his birthday party when faced with a beautiful woman that he should know but doesn’t, but who knows everything about him… And she detests him… Adam is all about the challenge, never one to turn away and run when he sets his sights on Cammie he will do nothing short of proving that he isn’t shallow and heartless as she believes…
Adam goes through a lot of turmoil in this book.  God I wanted to hug him so often.  He was really broken and beating himself up over things he’d done in his past and the things that he was trying to change.  His plan to win Cammie over was simply brilliant, and though she didn’t give into his charms he never stopped trying… Once she did start to give in, everything came crashing down… Things started to twist and turn and family got in the way of happiness… There were things revealed that should have been huge turning points but that all faded away when the unexpected happened and they were both forced to face real truths.  Adam and Cammie needed to overcome hurdles, insecurities, pride, family and most of all fear.
Their back and forth banter will have you cracking up.  Cammie is as hot as a firecracker on the 4th of July, she can light up a room just by walking into it, but she has the brains, whit and the stamina to stand up to the best of them… She’s really the complete package when you think about it, and she was PERFECT for Adam!  There was no doubt beginning to end the chemistry between them was undeniable.  There were a few shocking, yeah I didn’t see that coming at all moments in the book which is always refreshing… Nicole as always weaves a beautiful story and pulls no punches… I do have to say that this is the sexiest book she has written, it went into new territory that I hadn’t seen from her in previous books and I assure you that the hotness factor is off the charts with Adam… The man knows what he’s doing no doubt about that.
So I leave you with this parting thought… GO BUY THIS BOOK!  You will not be disappointed.  If you haven’t already read Hiding Out get that one first and read it… You can see where my love for Adam started and read all about Sam and Haley, who’s love story is equally as beautiful…

BLOG TOUR: SURVIVING RAINE BY SHAY SAVAGE (Surviving Raine #1)

Synopsis:

As the captain of a schooner catering to the elite on the Caribbean Seas, Sebastian Stark does his best to avoid any human encounters. Interacting with people isn’t his thing, and he prefers the company of a bottle of vodka, a shot glass, and maybe a whore. There’s no doubt he’s hiding from a checkered past, but he does well keeping everything to himself…

…until the night his schooner capsizes, and he’s stuck on a life raft with one of the passengers.

Raine’s young, she’s cute, and Bastian would probably be into her if he wasn’t suffering from alcohol withdrawal. As the days pass, DTs, starvation, and dehydration become the norm. Even the most closed person starts to open up when he thinks he’s going to die, but when she realizes their traumatic pasts are connected, it’s no longer the elements that have Bastian concerned.

He has no idea how he’s going to Survive Raine.

***

Bastian isn’t the most pleasant guy Raine could have ended up with in the middle of the ocean with no chance of rescue, but he has an uncanny knack for survival. As she digs through the walls surrounding the stubborn and challenging man, she finds something surprisingly different buried inside…

…and he can answer the question she’s asked for years.

As she learns more about what has brought him to this fate, Raine is determined to drag this self-destructive man back from the edge of the wave. Isolation is her only chance to tear the man out from inside of the animal, but this one has been abused for a long time.

She also has to live long enough to get through to him.

Excerpt from Surviving Raine

“What’s your problem?” I snapped again. I hadn’t really meant to, I was just tense and pissy.

The smoke was helping, but what I really wanted was a drink. I didn’t suppose anyone packed any of those little tiny airplane-sized booze bottles in the survival kits.

“I…um…” she stumbled over her words and looked away. Even under her darkened skin, I could see red creeping into her cheeks.

“What?” I was annoyed now. If she was going to complain about my smoking, I was going to lose it.

“I…have to go to the bathroom.”

I laughed. I took one last long drag, getting it all the way up to the filter before I tossed the butt out onto the waves.

“Then fucking go!”

“Where?”

“Didn’t you notice the en suite bath?” I laughed again, and then took a smidgen of pity on her. “Over the side, where do you think?”

“Well…how?”

All right, she did have a point there. Or rather, she didn’t have a point. Or a pointer. I had to laugh again at my internal joke.

“Just…I don’t know…hang your ass out over the edge. Or get in the water.

Whatever.”

“I’d have to take off my suit.”

“So?”

She blushed again.

“What? You want me to hang out in the next room for a few minutes? I promise I won’t gawk at you.”

She didn’t move. Well, actually, she was still fidgeting around; she just didn’t make a move to actually solve her dilemma. If she kept this up, she was going to pee in the fucking raft.

“If it makes you feel any better, I’ve already checked you out front and back, had my mouth on yours and my hand on your tit, so it’s not like…”

She gasped and covered her mouth with her hands. I realized how what I had said sounded, considering she had been unconscious the entire time. I shook my head.

“I didn’t mean…ah, fuck.” I grabbed my shirt and flopped down on my back, covering my whole face up with the garment. I lay there for a moment but didn’t hear her moving at all, so I yelled at her again. “Get on with it!”

She moved. I could hear her shuffle over to the front of the raft and then move around in one place, presumably taking off her shorts and her bathing suit.

“If you are going to get in the water, put the life preserver around your waist first and hold on to the fucking ladder. I don’t want to have to dive in after your ass again.”

“Okay,” she said. “Um…where is it?”

“Right outside the opening – on the left.”

“Thank you,” she said.

“Whatever.”

I listened to her move around a bit more and then felt her move closer to the opening and off to the side. There was a soft splash, and a minute later I heard her pulling herself back up onto the raft.

“There’s something similar to a towel over there,” I said – flinging my arm out in the
direction of the back of the raft and waving my hand around. “Make sure you dry off the floor, too.”

“Thank you,” she said.

“Whatever.”

I listened to her move around some more, getting pretty fed up with just lying there, baking, with my fucking shirt over my head.

“Are you done yet?”

“Almost,” she said quietly. Her voice still sounded scratchy. “Okay, I’m done.”

I grabbed the shirt off my face and sat up, looking over at her. She was adjusting the straps on her suit and still blushing.
“Do you know why my…um…throat hurts?”

“Yeah,” I said. I didn’t elaborate. After a minute she finally asked.

“Why does my throat hurt?”

“Because you inhaled a shitload of salt water,” I stated. “It fucks up your throat and your vocal cords. Give it a day; it’ll be better.”

“Thank you,” she said, again.

“Whatever,” I replied, again.

I shoved my hand down into the sealed up container for rations and pulled out a carb bar. I tore it in half and threw one of the pieces at her.

“Eat it,” I instructed. “You can have the other half in six hours.”

“Six hours?” she repeated.

“Are you a fucking recorder? Yes, six hours.”

I knew I was being a bastard, but my brain was working overtime trying to figure out what our best course of action might be. Having her here made it ten times more difficult. If it was just me, I was pretty sure I would be fine. There was plenty of food and water for just me. I could fish, I could take care of myself, and I could stay alive under pretty extreme circumstances. Having her here with me just…complicated everything.

Jenn’s Review of Surviving Raine

When I first started reading this book I was not sure what to expect and I wasn’t quite getting into it.  Bastian is crass beyond and extremely crude.  I was a little put off, however I won’t ever give up and let me tell you now this story is one that I will be highly recommending to people!  What a great read… Once their ship capsized the story really took off!

Bastian is one lousy human being, I can’t even tell you the depth of horrible things he has done, and even more so seen in his 29 years of life.  Raine is just 20 and has not experienced the things in life that a normal 20 year old would.  She has too much tragedy but yet she has stayed on the straight and narrow.  Bastian on the other hand buries himself in the bottle and women to help him forget.  They are probably the most unlikely paring I have ever seen.   Being stuck on a life raft together might just kill them both, physically and mentally.

When they are forced into a situation that neither can escape from, Raine’s impossible constant questions for Bastian might just drive him insane.  He isn’t used to human contact or love.  Hell he’s never really had that but one time in his life and even that was fleeting and left a hole inside his heart.  Bastian doesn’t trust anything or anyone and for very good reasons.

Raine is so sweet and loving and even in these awful conditions and finding out the horrible things in Bastian’s nightmares she breaks down barriers he’s erected since he was young.  Bastian will fight against all the element and survive cause he is a survivor, but can he fight against Raine and survive is the question.

You won’t be able to put this book down once it gets rocking and rolling along. The writing is really awesome and it is all from Bastian’s POV which I love.  Bastian has some really BIG issues and being inside his head was like a freight train speeding out of control…  The author does an amazing job holding your attention giving you just enough but not all of it, while moving the plot forward and keeping you on your toes.  Surviving Raine get a full 5 stars from this blogger. The only thing that I hated was that it ended and with a Cliffhanger… How I didn’t realized this was a series again beyond me apparently I was not paying attention, but again I will be first in line to one click the next once!!!!

Synopsis:

“Pain can leave even the strongest of people weak and hollow

Max DeLucca has spent seven years trying to forget the betrayal of his past.
He lives his life from day to day never looking forward and never looking back. The walls around his heart keep anyone from getting too close and prevent him from feeling too much… until he meets her.

Her entire life, Janie Silver searched for the kind of love that wouldn’t leave her broken and more importantly, wouldn’t leave her behind. She longs for a love that can heal the wounds of her past and give her the future she knows she deserves. She thought she was looking for something that just didn’t exist…until she meets him.

Danny’s on Main is where their story begins. A neighborhood bar where strangers become friends, friends become family
and some … become lovers

… it all started on Thursday Nights”

Excerpt from Thursday Nights

Max knew Janie well enough to know his words hurt her. She looked physically pained every time he shut her out. While he wasn’t lying when he said the problem wasn’t her, it left a fresh scar on his heart every time he saw the ache he inflicted flash through her eyes. The need to see her face was overwhelming. He had to look in her aqua eyes and make her understand that he wasn’t worth her time or her heart.

The bathroom door was all that stood between them. He lifted his hand to the doorknob, wanting so badly to open it and go to her.

He could envision her beautiful, naked body through the steam coming from the shower, the water trickling down her soft skin. Stripping himself down and sliding into the shower behind her. His large hands moving around her narrow waist, grazing over her ribcage and trailing up until he caressed her breasts. His thumb and forefinger rolling her nipples as he leans into her neck and drags his tongue up the long column until he reaches her jaw. Slowly turning her around, the water pounding at her back, he bends forward and begins a slow assault using his lips, his tongue, and his teeth. Her nipples pebble between his fingers, and a slow husky moan bubbles up from her throat, giving voice to her approval of his touch. She whimpers when he moves one hand from her breast and slowly lets it travel down her belly over her pubic bone. She runs her own hand up along his jaw and into his wet blond hair, pulling his head closer to her neck just as he strokes the hard nub between her thighs. She moans when he uses the pad of his finger to fondle her clit, and he can feel her body start to tremble and tighten. He’s not ready to let her come because that would mean he’d be letting her go, so he sinks first one finger, and then two, into her moist heat and begins a slow rhythm in and out of her cunt. “Oh, Max. Oh my God.” Her body is shaking, and her pussy is creaming on his fingers as he’s licking her neck, her jaw, and finally her lips. As he continues to fuck her with his fingers, he uses his thumb to rub her clit, finally bringing her over the edge. He can feel the walls of her sex milking his fingers as he whispers his apology and his love into her ear.

Jenn’s review of Thursday Nights

I had the pleasure of meeting Lisa this week and having lunch with her and I must tell you she is FUNNY!!!!!  She was super sweet and I am so glad that she lives close by.  It’s always so much fun getting to meet up with authors that I enjoy and getting to know them…  We got to chatting and I can’t tell you about what but I can tell you that the next few books are going to be just as awesome as this one is!!!!  I know I’m a big tease sorry but a girl never tells her secrets… hahaha!

So let’s talk about Thursday Nights the first thing that I noticed was Max… My youngest son’s name is Max…

Max is HOT and STEAMY and really knows how to work a woman’s body!  sigh…. I was fanning myself in the first few chapters and knew that wasn’t nearly going to be enough of him!  WOW!  So Max has a past, who doesn’t right?  But his unfortunately broke him (cue the violin) this is just what I like the broken, hot guy… I was pretty smitten almost immediately with his character.  He was sweet and funny, and really sad and lonely.  I wanted to hug Max often throughout this book.  He was truly one confused man, but then again so was the lovely and beautiful Janie.

The met in a bar, Janie and her best friend Lyla frequented every Thursday Night. Their visits became ritual and they became friends and family to the crew and owners of this local establishment.  Janie has been through a ton of BAD and I mean BAD relationships, awful men who don’t deserve her.  She harbors feelings for a certain man but never really acts on it.  Till one Thursday Night when it all changes and her new obsession becomes the man she has lusted after for months.   Janie falls for the one man that isn’t obtainable almost instantly.  No matter how bad she wants it he runs, thanks to his evil experience in the past.

Janie harbors her own secrets and all but begs him to let her in.  You know that old saying I think it was even a popular 80’s hair band song by Cinderella “Don’t know what you got till it’s gone.”  Well that is soooooo true in this story.  The question is will it be too late to make things right?

There are so many twists and turns and secrets in this book my head was spinning out of control.  What I LOVE the most is that all of the supporting characters were so prominent in the story.  I didn’t even know that this was a series, yeah I’ve done that a lot lately going into books not realizing but Lisa does one amazing job of weaving them all perfectly into the story in order to make you want to know more about them and really get to know their secrets as well.  Lyla and Janie are tight and for very good reasons and Max and his best friend Gage also are tight and for what I believe is also very good reasons but we just had enough of a tease of their sordid pasts to keep us guessing and wanting a whole lot more.

I adored the bar owner and his wife and the way that they took all of their staff and Janie and Lyla in as family.  Their relationship was touching the way that they looked after each other and truly showed what real friendships and family is all about.  Being that most of them seemed to have no real family to speak of the group of friends were extremely close nit and it really made me love their dynamic… It also made me want to keep reading so when the story ended there really wasn’t a cliffhanger it was what I would call just the beginning…

I truly cannot wait for the next book to come out and learn more about all of them.  I have a feeling we will be seeing a lot of all this group for a long time to come, and honestly you will find me first in line to one click the next book when it’s released!  I give Thursday Nights 5 stars the writing was extremely clean and the story was super believable.  This book will capture your heart and suck you into the story.  Good Luck putting it down once you start because I sure couldn’t!!!!
