So, it’s not just me being bias;)

On the outside, Huntley Morgan is your typical girl-next-door, with her long blonde hair and piercing blue eyes, and that’s exactly what she wants people to see. Her name exposes her to the demons of her past but remembering her reason for moving across the country to start over is what keeps her alive. For the first time since the brutal murder of her mother, Huntley allows herself to care about the people around her.

Grayson Carter has everything a 21yr old College Senior could wish for – he’s the star of Whitley University’s football team, he has a different girl willing to be in his bed every night and a supportive family. For years he has managed keep his family together and hide their dark secrets from the small town of Breckinridge, Alabama.
When Huntley and Grayson meet, a force so strong pulls them together in a hurricane of feelings neither of them could have ever anticipated. Huntley and Grayson try to stay away from each other, but when Huntley’s demons seek her out, their pasts become the biggest storm of all.

Will they learn to trust each other and build a new future together or will they simply do nothing to prevent history from repeating itself?

As if you have any doubt that it’s going to be amazing, Tamsyn gave us these little teasers to reel you in –> (That was in my Deuce voice)

Excerpt #1

My breath catches in my throat and it’s like all time is standing still, freezing this moment before it flies past too quickly. Nothing else exists.
Her blonde hair is pulled up high in a messy bun with a few loose tendrils hanging in her face. She’s wearing a white sundress that compliments her sun kissed skin and red cowboy boots that make her legs look they go on forever. God have mercy… those legs… My mind goes straight to conjuring up images of seeing her in nothing but those red boots.
I don’t think Blondie could get any hotter but then she proves me wrong when she laughs, a light choral sound that echoes through every bone in my body and settles itself in the core of my stomach. I am completely transfixed, my eyes following her every move until she disappears into the kitchen.

Excerpt #2
The timing couldn’t be worse because as he makes his way around to where Brody was sitting I finally get a good look at him.
The True Religion jeans he has on hug his lean waist and his grey fitted shirt does nothing to hide his well-defined chest. If I had to guess, he’s at least 6 feet tall. That only draws my attention to his broad shoulders and I see now that he’s a whole lotta muscle. Add all of this to a square jaw and full lips and you’ve found the perfect recipe for one thing…Sex On Legs.
His mouth pulls up in a sexy smirk when he catches me staring and I blush before turning my gaze away. Some people would say I just eye-fucked him and unfortunately, I’m inclined to agree. I may have sworn off all guys but I’m still human and can’t help my physical reaction to such a gorgeous piece of man. The fact that he’s obviously half past drunk should’ve stopped me but nooo I still undressed him with my eyes.

Excerpt #3
I walk to the door but when I open it I’m completely unprepared for what’s in front of me.  Or rather who is in front of me.
Huntley is wearing a coral sundress with matching pumps. The colour accentuates her sun-kissed skin. She’s glowing.
Her hair is curled and left loose, hanging down past her shoulders. My eyes stop at her lips, pink and glossy. I stand there like an idiot and shamelessly drink her curves in.
She clears her throat and for a brief second I’m lost in the depth of those Cobalt irises. I have never seen stormy blue eyes until now.  They tell a story, about what I’m not sure, but its there, in those stormy depths and I want to find out what it is.
“Hi,” she whispers. Her musical voice moves through my body and jolts me from my daze.

Excerpt #4
He chuckles and I watch his chest move with the sound. “I said,” his voice still a breathy whisper, “You can look. I know you want to.”
I swallow. Hard.
Of course he’s right. I want to look.
So I do.
His lips are parted, his breathing coming out in short wisps like mine. His chin is covered in light stubble and I have the sudden urge to lick it. The skin on his neck is smooth, still coated in droplets of water that skate over the light freckles on his shoulders. I know his shoulders are broad but I didn’t see how broad until now. My scrutiny stops at his pecs and spot the little silver bar sticking out of his nipple. Fuuuuck. That’s so sexy. I bite my tongue to prevent myself from pulling it into my mouth. His hand slips under my shirt and rests on my hip. His thumb traces lazy circles on my hip bone and my skin blazes from the fervour of that small stroke. Oh.My.God. He’s teasing me, tempting me. I rest my hands in his chest and gently graze my index fingers over his nipples. It makes me smile when I feel him shiver.  He isn’t as unaffected as he’d have me think. I look back up and he’s staring at me, trying to see right into my soul. It’s unnerving, like the feel of his racing heartbeat under my palm. I like that it’s racing because of me.
He moves his leg and pushes it up between the apex of my thighs. I bite my lip but it doesn’t stop a moan from escaping my mouth. He has me so tightly strung I’m afraid one more slight brush of his leg will set me off. “Do you know how crazy you make me?” he asks, his eyes never leaving mine. I nod and he gives me his lopsided grin. God I want to kiss him so badly. “Why have you been avoiding me?” I ask. I need to know. We can’t keep tip-toeing around each other like this. “Because this is a bad idea. You’re going to break me and I’m already damaged. I’m just not sure how much longer I can stay away from you.” His answer surprises me. I take a step forward, his bare chest only a sliver of space away from mine.

Erika Ashby

Release Date June 30th

Life isn’t always about fairy-tales and happily ever-after’s according to Seth Jordan. After having his world shattered and heartbroken beyond repair, he had always sworn off the idea of love. He was perfectly content with continuing his life with worthless one night stands and no strings attached sex. That was until one blue-eyed blonde managed to seep into places he thought were cemented shut.

Like a jack hammer, Mallory Prentice came into Seth’s life and cracked the hard exterior that surrounded his heart. She’s the one woman he was starting to feel might be worth taking a chance on.

But life doesn’t always hand you the easy road. Sometimes you are constantly hit with the bad and have no hope of any good ever showing up.

Will Seth and Mallory realize that ultimately they are the ones who are in control of their life’s outcome? Will they embrace the future and fight for their own happiness, or will they keep lingering in past mistakes and let it keep them apart?

Life is all about forgiveness and second chances. Once you come to that conclusion and just go for it, there is…no going back.

Excerpt from No Going Back

“I wanted to tell you,” she cries. “I wanted to tell you at the wedding, Jesika and Derek’s. I was gonna tell you, and then that, that bitch showed up, and I just couldn’t,” she looks over at me as she wipes the tears from her face. It’s taking every fiber of strength in me to keep my hands grasped together in my lap instead of using them to wipe away the visible pain she is shedding. Letting out a defeated sigh, she continues, “Then I tried again, when I showed up at your umm…wedding. We both know how that turned out.”

“Why didn’t you just tell me you were pregnant Mal? It could have changed everything.” Who am I kidding? I don’t know what it could have changed at the time. I mean I was dealing with a situation of my own. A situation I was conned into, and I lost everything that was of true importance to me because of it.

“I didn’t want you to want me because I was fucking pregnant. Are you kidding me? I wanted you to want me on your own Seth. I wanted you to choose me…but you didn’t. I was stupid to think there was ever a chance that you would.” She looks away, “I need to go, you got the answers you came for. You can go back to your wife now.”

Landon “Blackhawk” Walker is ready to get out of the Navy SEALs. He has seen and done enough, and can’t wait to get to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico where three tasks await him: get back into civilian mode, take a boat out to the El Arco Rocks, and win back the heart of the woman he lost because of his career.

Maya Gonzalez has tired of the heartbreak that comes with Landon’s deployments year after year. When he walks back into her life, she cannot deny her heart, despite her reservations.

As they lose themselves in each other and the beauty of Cabo, their passion is rekindled once again, but Maya knows that one phone call means deployment for Landon, putting an end to their reunion, and possibly their relationship.

Tonya’s Review of Chica Bella
Landon “Blackhawk” Walker has been a Navy SEAL for far too long.  Five tours of duty does something to the soul that words can’t explain. And after this last tour, he wants out and to catch up on some sleep and find the one woman he loves. Thoughts of Maya are all that got him through the last eight months and eleven days!! Maya isn’t sure she will ever see Landon again. Every time they get together it’s for a short time and then one phone call and he’s gone. Her heart can’t take anymore. But when Landon shows up at the bar where she works and asks her for a date that night, how can she say no?? His tall muscular frame and beautiful blue eyes send her heart into overdrive. Can she survive another heartbreak that will surely come when the call comes in??

This story was short but sweet!! I loved Landon from page one, But who doesn’t love a man in uniform?? He has been a SEAL for seventeen long years and has seen and done things we only hear about, and some that we never will. He has his fair share of demons and bad dreams but when he’s with Maya all that goes away.  Now that he has told his C.O. that he wants out all that’s left to do is hope Marty finds a replacement for him fast, and find Maya of course. He knows his heart belongs to her and she is his home. He just needs to tell her that. Maya is so sweet and loving. After the way Landon left her the last time, her heart is broken and she doesn’t know if she can keep going through that with him. She loves him too much to keep watching him walk away knowing he is going off to war but never knowing where or for how long or when he will be back or if she will ever see him again. So when she sees him standing there at the bar she is so happy he’s alive but still angry at the way he left. Then he asks her for a date, what’s a girl to do??

I thought this story was a little short, but I enjoyed every last page of it!! I couldn’t put it down. The love scenes where steamy but gentle and loving at the same time. The lengths Landon goes to show Maya he wants to be with her are so sweet. It’s the little things that count and he shows her that. But what happens when he leaves again? Do they pick up where they left off? Does she tell him to take a hike? Does love really conquer all? I guess you will just have to read it to find out what happens with the Sexy Soldier and The Beautiful Mexican girl. You won’t be disappointed! I wasn’t!! I would have to give Chica Bella 4 Stars! Muy Bueno!!

Sometimes even after a broken heart is mended, cracks remain, and the same doubts and insecurities that once yanked us apart seep in.

Can true love hold Dane and Alex together or will their hearts completely shatter like glass?

Excerpt from Glass Hearts

I head toward the bedroom and find Alex sprawled out on the center of the bed. I’m still pissed at her for dancing with him. I don’t know what she was thinking. I hate that fucker and seeing him with his hands on my girl was enough to send me over the edge. I immediately wanted to walk over to them but I stopped, telling myself over and over that there would be no way I could control my temper if I went anywhere near him.

I kept my eyes on them, ready to pounce if he took it any further. I started to cool down a little but deep shades of red clouded by vision when I saw him press his body closer to her. My mind was made up; I was heading over to punch that idiot in the face if I got through the packed crowd. I was still about ten feet away when I saw him press his lips to her cheek and it halted me in place; she let him do it. Didn’t push him away or tell him to stop. It took everything I had to not break his neck. I was even more pissed at Alex for letting him do it.

I hate feeling this way.

“Dane,” she whispers, lifting her head from the pillow. She glances at the clock. “You’re late getting home.”

Yeah, I had a couple drinks after work. I needed them. “It was busy,” I say, sitting on the edge of the bed to remove my shoes.

Title: Forgiven (This #3)
Author: J.B. McGee
Genre: New Adult
Publication Date: May 16, 2013

Everyone has a past…good or bad, they are always there. They lurk and linger in the shadows, sometimes reappearing at the most inconvenient times.

Gabby and Bradley thought that their pasts would remain dormant, that happiness was theirs for the taking. Still the strongest of relationships can be rocked by the ugliness from a previous life, even if it seems to be a world away. The fact remains an ugly past is never distant. It taints everything it touches, drives permanent rifts between loved ones, and sometimes can ruin everything. Gabby and Bradley must find the only way to battle the past. Forgiveness becomes a light through the darkness, a guide for the lost, and hope for the hopeless. With forgiveness comes bright, new beginnings.

Jenn’s Review of Forgiven

I’ve been a huge fan of “This” series from the very beginning. I’ve loved Bradley from the first words of Broken.  This still isn’t the ending to their story according to a recent announcement…  I’m glad to see their story continue as I feel there was quite a bit left unresolved in this book

Forgiven was the third full book in the series. If you didn’t read Conspiring which is the novella you might be slightly confused as to the events in this book.

Bradley is dealing with the issues of being torn between the woman he loves and is to be marrying and the woman who may or may not be carrying his child.  Bradley’s constant tug in every direction wears on his conscience heavily.

Gabby is dealing with her insecurities about everything.  Her future with Bradley brings so much tension for Gabby, not knowing if he is the father of a baby that she isn’t carrying truly rips her heart out. She doesn’t want this baby to be his. But when Gabby is faced with her past and someone she hasn’t seen in years it brings new issues. Dealing with the past becomes her main focus.

So many things happen in this book, the whirlwind romance continues to unravel very quickly whenever these two are around. Bradley and Gabby have always faced a slew of issues but this book brought on even more of them. They are supposed to be happily planning a wedding and a future and all they get socked with are doubts, insecurities and more drama!  Sometimes I wondered if a HEA was even possible for them. How much can two people overcome without losing sight of the big picture.

I think that there were several loose ends that need to be explored from this book. It’s all about forgiveness but Gabby’s sister Sam refused to give any, and she and Gabby at slightly at odds.  There is more here and I’m hoping its uncovered in the future books. I always loved Sam’s devotion to Gabby through these books.  She’s the big sister every girl needs when faced with such a sad past.  Sam has demons though she needs to deal with and that is evident in this book.

Bradley and Gabby’s vows made me cry. They were touching and beautiful and so them!

I’m hoping the next book deals with some of the unresolved questions I have after reading this installment. I give 4.5 stars to Forgiven. It was a great addition to This series.

Happy Reading!

Unbreak Me by Lexi Ryan
Publication date:  May 27th, 2013
Genre: New Adult Romance

“If you’re broken, I’ll fix you…”

I’m only twenty-one and already damaged goods. A slut. A failure. A disappointment to my picture-perfect family as long as I can remember. I called off my wedding to William Bailey, the only man who thought I was worth fixing. A year later, he’s marrying my sister. Unless I ask him not to…

“If you shatter, I’ll find you…”

But now there’s Asher Logan, a broken man who sees the fractures in my façade and doesn’t want to fix me at all. Asher wants me to stop hiding, to stop pretending. Asher wants to break down my walls. But that means letting him see my ugly secrets and forgiving him for his.

With my past weighing down on me, do I want the man who holds me together or the man who gives me permission to break?

 Excerpt from Unbreak Me

“You’ve had a long day,” he says. “You want to talk?”

I drape my arms behind his neck. “Why would you think I want to talk to you at all?”

He grunts. “Because you’re looking at me like a starved woman at a prime rib buffet.”

“Yes,” I murmur. “What does that have to do with talking?”

His eyes are so damn sexy. The kind of eyes you see in magazines, where the man staring at you from the pages seems to invite you to strip bare while promising you’d enjoy it.

“Don’t you want us to get to know each other before you indulge?”

I pretend to consider it. “I’m more about the meal than the conversation.”

“You’re a kid.” If it’s supposed to be an objection it rings weak against the pressure of his hand on my hip.

I trace a rivulet of water down his neck. “I’m twenty-one.” I bring up my knees and wrap my legs around his waist, satisfied when he draws in his breath with a sharp hiss.

“Is this about him?” he asks.

I frown. “Who?”

“The groom at your sister’s wedding? He has some kind of hold on you. I saw it in your eyes. In his.”

“This has nothing to do with William Bailey.”

He looks unconvinced but doesn’t call my bluff. Instead, he brushes his lips over mine. Gentle. Careful. Sweet.

The only thing that can break me tonight is sweet, and I won’t be broken. I bite his full bottom lip and dig my nails into his shoulder blades.

A quick study, he gets my message. His hand tangles into my hair while the other digs into my ass and pulls me against him. The hard length of his cock rests between my legs and lights a hot coil of pulsing energy.

He rubs his tongue against mine and moans. Or maybe that’s me, because I’m pulling him closer. I wrap my arm tighter behind his neck, and I’m practically crawling up him in my efforts to get closer and closer still.

I break the kiss and make myself back off. I’m not the kind of girl who loses control. I don’t lose my mind over men and expect to be saved. I don’t want Asher to save me.

His fingertips are at my hip, tracing an invisible path down and under, moving ever closer to that coiled ache between my thighs. His lips part and our breath mingles as I savor the heat of his body against mine, the sweet anticipation of his fingers inching closer to where I want them.

I slide a hand down his bare chest and between our bodies and cup him through his swim trunks. I’m rewarded with another hiss and then his lips, his tongue, his teeth, hot and desperate against my neck, nipping, toying, playing. Electrifying the sensitive skin.

He cups my breast, and this time I know the moan I hear is my own.

“So goddamn sexy.” His thumb flicks across my nipple, a strangled sound escaping his throat.

I graze my fingertips under the waistband of his swim trunks. I want to feel him in my palm. I want that power to whip through me as I wrap my hands around his hot flesh and it pulses thicker, harder.

For a moment, that’s where this is headed. His hands are greedy, all over me, his mouth doing delicious things to my neck.

“You have protection, right?” I ask.

He laughs and stops toying with me, his head leaning against my shoulder. Slowly, he slides his hands to my back. “That’s not exactly something I keep tucked in my swim trunks.”

I’m so aroused it hurts. Asher is stunning. Solid. Delicious. I want to bite into that corded muscle of his neck. Want to explore that smattering of chest hair with my fingers while I drag my mouth down his flat stomach.

But he doesn’t have protection, and that’s a deal breaker.

“In your house?” My breathing’s unsteady, my heart pounding.

He cups my face in one big hand. “Why don’t you run home and get dressed? I’ll take you to breakfast.”

My jaw goes slack. Who the hell is this guy? Who has brakes that good?

Chapter One

He bent over and softly placed his lips on the tip of her nose, just as he had done for as long as she could remember. “I’ll be back,” he whispered quietly, hesitating before finally pulling away.
Their eyes met, and she knew, she could see the familiar distance in them just as she saw only a couple months before. But this time was going to be different. Unlike the last time, she wouldn’t know where to go or what to do. She wouldn’t be able to search for him and take him by the hand, and guide him away.
His eyes slowly moved from hers as he turned and walked towards the door, only to stop a moment, lingering in the doorway like he was second guessing his decision. She slowly sat up, hoping his mind had changed, but her hope quickly vanished as he continued out the door and into the hall.
She watched him through her window, walking down the brightly lit hall, knowing it would be the last time she ever saw him. That it would be the last time she’d hear his voice, the last time his fresh, yet smoky, scent filled her nose. She knew it would be the last time she’d feel her body come to life, ignited like a flame, from the touch of his lips on hers while the warmth of his breath delicately canvassed her body.
He didn’t have to say it; she could sense it, just like she’d done before. Only this time, the gut twisting feeling she got when he spoke, told her what he couldn’t say, and the unspoken words in his eyes. His azure colored eyes that still had a way of making her knees weak and heart slam against her chest, all the while small sparks of electricity soared through her body, all with a single simple look.
Lennox sat there in her room. Dazed, as the numbness slowly crept up and through her body, into her heart and soul, as the voice in her head spoke in loud volumes, telling her over and over, the things she didn’t want to believe. Her eyes, still fixated on his back, watching as he became further and further away; almost out of sight.
She swallowed, trying to rid the dryness that made it hard to breathe. Her mouth finally unfroze and her lips parted. “Caleb,” she spoke quietly, meaning for it to sound louder, so he could hear the gut wrenching pain that filled her normally soft voice, and he’d come back to her. But all that sounded was a whisper ending with a small sob.
He was her all, he’d always be her all, and she knew it the day he unexpectedly walked back into her life. That moment, when their eyes met, she knew they were made for one another, that they were meant to be. They were each other’s missing piece and he found her, in all his gorgeous gratifying glory, grabbing her by the hand, and her entire heart and soul.
Together Lennox and Caleb went places. Places she never, in her life, thought she’d ever go. The things she saw and witnessed are of things no one should have to see or speak of again, because once was enough. His path took them on a journey through hell, right to the burning pit, where, when given the chance to leave, she stayed and fought for him, and a way back.
She did things along the way that she’s not proud of. Things she’ll never be able to forgive herself for, unthinkable things that changed her demeanour and relationships with the people in her life. Lennox, being the typical girl next door, would never, in a million years, do what she did but when it came to Caleb, she’d do anything.
Through it all Lennox lost a lot along the way, important things. But at the time nothing was more important than Caleb and her being together. They learned once that not being together was more toxic then actually being together. So, in her mind, there wasn’t a doubt, or voice, telling her she made the wrong choice five months earlier, when he walked through the doors of Fizzy Wigs; a local cafe in Spruce Hill.
The scary part was, after knowing everything and going through all they went through, Lennox, given the chance to do so, would go back and do it all over; not changing a damn thing.
She continued to watch him walk away, rounding the corner, and disappearing from her sight without a glance back. The breath she didn’t know she’d been holding rushed out, as if someone came up to her, and punched her in the stomach. It was then she realized it hadn’t been enough, none of it was.
And even more heartbreakingly so, neither was she.
At that moment realization hit, and she was on her way back to hell, only this time she was going alone, and the battle out was a far bigger challenge then the last.
With her eyes still on the last place she saw him, silently wishing him to come back, a man in a white coat obstructed her view. Blinking, she looked up at him, his face unreadable as he looked down at the clipboard in his somewhat feminine hands. When he finished flipping through the white sheets of paper, his eyes lifted and met hers.
He witnessed, through her eyes, her world crumble and shatter around her, leaving nothing but an empty, hollow shell in its place.
“Ms Ward….” he said carefully, making note of how delicate and fragile she looked.
Lennox sat there looking at nothing but dead air and the small dust particles as they fluttered around, the room was silent, and she didn’t even hear when the man spoke. It was as if someone had muted real life.
Her mind was on only one thing.
When he left her there in her room, he knew he wasn’t leaving alone, that he was taking her with him, maybe not physically, but in every other way possible. It was more than a piece of her he took, it was more than a part of her, it was every piece.
Every. Single. Fucking. Piece.
And she let him.
“Ms Ward, did you hear what I just said?” the man’s comforting voice echoed through the room.
Lennox shook her head, pushing the thoughts aside, as she looked up at him, and watched his lips move as he repeated the words that not only sent icy waves through her already numb body, but caused what little was left of her world to shatter.
And that’s when it happened, that’s when she began to drown. Drowning in memories, like a surfer in a wild tidal wave, as the gates opened and everything from the past five months came flooding back.

But submission is a very hard thing for most people. They need to feel like they are in control, even if it is an illusion.”

My heart started to beat faster; I could see Shepard’s pupils dilate as his hand pushed the rogue strands of hair back behind my ears and down my neck. I closed my heavy lids as the tingle of electricity caused by his fingertips trailed straight to my center.

“It could be so much easier, Violet, if they would just stop for a second and listen.” I felt his lips brush against my forehead gently before he backed away and continued walking down the hill, leaving me speechless.

Title: Emancipating Andie
Author: Priscilla Glenn
Release date: April 27, 2013
Age Group: Adult
Genre: Contemporary Romance

Ever since the one time Andie Weber threw caution to the wind – and paid the price for it – she’s learned that it’s safer and smarter to live life playing by the rules. Now she’s got a great apartment, a steady job, and a wonderful boyfriend in Colin; he’s sweet, stable, and essentially perfect – except maybe for the fact that his best friend is Chase.

Chase McGuire lives his carefree, unstructured life strictly for himself. Dripping sarcasm and oozing wit, he refuses to censor his feelings or opinions for anyone, making no apologies for either and wearing his abrasiveness like a badge of honor. No one has ever gotten under Andie’s skin the way Chase does – and vice versa.

So when Andie and Chase find themselves forced to take a two-day road trip together, they are already dreading an inevitable all-out war. But as the trip progresses, and the undeniable friction that has always defined their relationship slowly begins to wear away their preconceived notions of each other, Andie and Chase discover they both have a lot to learn about life, courage, happiness, and the age-old battle between logic and love.

Jenn’s Review of Emancipating Andie
This second book by Pricilla was fantastic!  I really enjoyed this book.  It started off a little slow for me I like a lot of in your face angst, but this book had a slow and beautiful build that left me feeling completely satisfied in the end.
Oh my Andie she was a broken girl, haunted by a past that was out of her control.  So she did what most people did, choose the safe road, protect yourself and make decisions only if they don’t involve risk.  I wasn’t sure what her past had that made her so closed off to living life, and I was actually a little surprised by what it was
Chase is a carefree soul, or that is the way he appears to his friends and those that don’t really know the real Chase.  He is just as guarded and closed off but choose to life his life carefree after the death of his mother.  He is fighting some serious demons from his past and they have made him closed off to emotions of the heart.  I felt so bad for chase, all he wanted to be was accepted and loved unconditionally.  Though I don’t think that he knew it until Andie came into his life.
Their road trip is so sweet and touching and the push and pull in their rocky road is heartbreaking at times.  I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do smack them or kiss them both.
Chase makes some seriously HUGE mistakes during the book but never anything that was unforgivable.  When all caution is thrown to the wind can Andie and Chase overcome their demons in time before they destroy each other?  Well you‘ll have to read it to find out what happens.
Priscilla does a fantastic job with these characters.  They are full of surprises and I truly enjoyed them allI really couldn’t see anything that I would change about this book.  The story is really touching and wonderful, I highly recommend this one and give it a 4.5 stars.  There were just a few things I would have liked to see developed more, but that’s just me personally…

 The Inspiration for
Emancipating Andie

It all began with a girls’ night and a few bottles of wine. (Don’t all great stories start that way?) Somehow we began discussing the topic of “celebrity freebies” and one of my good friends said of her freebie, “I would give anything to be trapped in a room with him for a week.” I didn’t think anything of it that night; in fact, I believe my blood-alcohol content at the time would only allow me to nod furiously and conjure up my own “trapped” fantasy with my celebrity freebie. (Or freebies. I may or may not have three of them. But my husband did approve them all, and that’s what counts, right?)

It was some time the next day that I started thinking about that concept, the whole “trapped for a week with someone” scenario. I understand the idea behind it: you’d love to be isolated with (insert object of fantasy here) so you can treat their body like your own personal amusement park. Totally get it. But if you look at it realistically (not the point of a fantasy, I know – I’m such a party pooper) how long could you actually keep up that charade? If you were really stranded with someone for a week, eventually, you would need a breather, right? So at some point, you would end up simply spending time together. And I thought, “Hmm, I wonder – if I were stranded with (Robert Pattinson, Caleb Followill, or Georges St. Pierre…don’t judge me), would I still swoon for him once the ‘amusement park’ part was over?” I’m sure you would learn a lot about someone, being trapped together for an extended period of time. Would that end up fostering the crush on that person, or extinguishing it?

And then I thought, “Well, what about the reverse? What if you were stuck with someone you hated? Could that ‘trapped’ time together actually end with you liking them?” And voila, the idea for Emancipating Andie was born.

For the record, I would still chance a week trapped with one (or all) of my freebies, knowing it could very well end in disaster. Just felt I should put that out there in case any of them happen to frequent romance book blogs in their spare time.

:) Happy reading!
