BLOG TOUR: GLASS HEARTS BY LISA DE JONG

Synopsis:

Sequel to Plastic Hearts…

Can a relationship survive on love alone? Is love truly enough?

Dane and Alex’s relationship has never been easy, but now they have a fresh start without the pressures
of Alex’s family. Together they try to move forward while continuing to struggle with a past that they
can’t seem to escape.

Sometimes no matter how hard we try to make things work, love isn’t enough.

Sometimes even after a broken heart is mended, cracks remain, and the same doubts and insecuritiesthat once yanked us apart seep in.

Can true love hold Dane and Alex together or will their hearts completely shatter like glass?

 Carrie’s Review of Glass Hearts

I was excited about Glass Hearts because I loved Plastic Hearts so much. I think I love Glass Hearts a tad more because this time we get Dane’s POV too! I love Dane Wright!! He is a perfect BB! Did I say he was hot?! I mean on fire, flames and all!

Dane- isn’t just hot, let’s be real there is more to a BB right? He is very honest and sometimes I felt maybe too honest at times but you get sucked right back in by his charisma and charm. I love the way he loves Alex! It was swoon worthy ! I could feel his love for her everytime he spoke.

Alex -let’s just say she grew up a lot in Glass Hearts..I’m so glad she did! She came across very bratty..and..rude in Plactic Hearts. She whined a lot and it was her way or the highway. I love that she grew up and stands on her own two feet. She becomes the woman she always wanted to be. I think a lot of that was her family holding her back. I’m so glad she became her own person.

This love story will suck you in right from the start. I loved watching both the characters grow and overcome their past issues. Their love is strong enough to overcome it all! Call me a sap I know but Dane and Alex tugged at my heart. I loved this story from the beginning, but loved it even more seeing the love Dane had for Alex through his eyes. Thank you Lisa De Jong for showing us true love does exist!! That’s why I’m giving Glass Hearts 5 stars! I absolutely fell in love!!

 The Flipside of Serious

“Holy Mother of—God . . .” Denny said.

My sentiments exactly. Andy Devine had to be the most stunning man I’d ever laid eyes on.

He was tall, six foot two at least, his black hair swept back to just nick his collar, his skin tanned, his cheekbones high, his shoulders as wide as his waist was lean. He wore dark trousers, a white shirt, a tie, and a vest, but I could tell immediately he was used to more freedom. His body looked sculpted by hard and frequent use, his biceps nearly bursting from their cotton casing, and even in that un-air-conditioned room, he looked as cool and collected as if encased in ice. Putting it all together, he was quite the package, but that wasn’t what took my breath away. As I came toward the table, as he moved around it to meet me, it was his eyes that nearly nailed me to the floor: two sharp, liquid arrows so regally blue they looked cut from some empirical standard, and infused with an intelligence so far above any preconceived notions, I genuinely felt embarrassed.

To put it simply: he was not what I expected.

“What can I do for you?” he said, the overhead fans ruffling his thick hair.

Not that I would allow him to ruffle me. “As I said, I’m Julie Knott from Channel 8 News, and this is my cameraman, Denny O’Brien.”

Denny cleared his throat—loudly—lowering the camera to his side. “Pleased to meet you,” he said with surprising steadiness, in spite of his blanch a minute before.

Andy Devine nodded, but didn’t reach for either of our hands, which we were too off-kilter to offer anyway. Instead he eyed us with a curiosity I’d last seen at the zoo.

Inwardly, I was a little miffed that any human—insanely gorgeous or otherwise—could invoke such ridiculous reactions, doubly so as I groped for the right thing to say. My God! When’s the last time that happened? Still, years of experience let me slip into my screen-perfected smile and simpatico interviewer’s mode, my voice precisely modulated as I leaned in and said conspiratorially, “Maybe you’ve heard of me? I do segments on Channel 8 called ‘Julie Knott’s Random Access.’”

“Can’t say I watch much TV,” he said. Then his eyes narrowed. “Random, as in meaning . . . ?”

“You know, out of the ordinary, off the beaten track. Unusual.”

“Ah.” He considered that for a moment. “You think I’m unusual?”

Only the fact that you’re actually saying that with a straight face. “Well, your interview process certainly is. We’d love to do a story on it.”

He looked honestly perplexed. “Why?”

I almost laughed. Either this man was yanking my chain, or there were still people out there who could surprise me. “You don’t think advertising on a utility pole for a wife is a bit out of the ordinary?”

He leaned back against the table, folding his arms across his massive chest. “No more than when a woman tricks herself out and goes into a bar, advertising herself as available. I’m just giving her a more respectable venue.”

His voice was deep and melodious, yet he had the oddest accent, as unmistakably American as it was faintly exotic. The sound of it sent a distinct wave of heat through me. Good God. I scrubbed my hand across the back of my neck; I refused to let him throw me. “So, you don’t see having them parade before you like horses at an auction as a tad different?”

That seemed to amuse him. “Miss Knott, it’s me who’s really for sale, and don’t think for a moment each one of those women out there isn’t aware of it.”

I had an image of Mr. Gorgeous being yanked from one frantic female to the other, One Day Sale! signs hung around his neck.“That would be true if they were doing the choosing.”

“Even the woman I pick still has to agree to it. I’ll be making all the promises.”

“As in a contract.”

“Actually, it’s very simple. I’m offering a three-month trial marriage, in which I’ll promise to house, feed and provide my wife with anything she needs. All I’m asking of her is to be healthy, work hard and try for a baby. If for any reason she’s not completely satisfied—and pregnant within three months—she’ll walk away with a generous compensation. So obviously, the risk is more at my end. Their risk is relatively effortless.”

“Effortless!” The ways in which this preposterous proposition so did not resemble effortless nearly made me laugh out loud. “Mr. Devine, I’d hardly call bearing your issue effortless!”

He bristled. “I’m not saying it would be. I only thought of children as a logical progression.”

Amazing, truly. He wasn’t medieval; he was positively Neanderthal. “A logical progression of what?”

“Why, marriage, of course.”

“So couples that don’t have children . . .” I flung my hands in a futile gesture. “Who don’t want or can’t have them—their marriages are a sham?”

“No . . .” he said, a bit condescendingly. “That would be the logic of their own particular marriages. But in ours, the terms will already have been spelled out. I have a farm. She’ll help me run it. And if it’s run well, we’ll share equally in the benefits and rewards. You couldn’t get a better deal than that.”

“You talk as if this marriage’ll be nothing more than a business relationship.”

He looked incredulous. “Isn’t that what all marriages really are?”

“Of course not,” I said. “What a crazy idea.”

“Well, if they aren’t, they should be. Because that’s what it comes down to at the divorce settlement anyway. A dissolution of a partnership, a consolidation of debts, a distribution of the assets. Are you married, Ms. Knott?”

I caught his glance to my left hand. I shoved my bare fingers into my pocket. “No. Presently unattached.” Denny cleared his throat. I tossed him a filthy glare. And when Andy Devine lifted a brow, I knew I’d better offer a quick clarification before my cameraman spilled it. “I just broke it off with my fiancé this morning.”

“Does this upset you?” he said.

I could feel the blood rising to my face. “What do you think? We were to be married in two weeks. The man practically left me at the altar.”

“Did you love him?”

He was beyond belief. “Of course I did! Why else would I have married him?”

“Probably not for any of my reasons. Because from what I can assume . . .”—he assessed me quickly—“You’re probably a good risk. Which just proves how ancillary love actually is.”

If the morning hadn’t already unhinged me, this Andy Devine threw the door right off the hinges. “You’re wrong,” I said, my hands clenching so tightly I nearly crushed the mic. “Even after what my fiancé did to me, I still believe the only logical progression is people meet, fall in love, get married. That’s the way it’s supposed to be. Because without love, Mr. Devine, your marriage will never be a real one.”

He sprung from the table toward me. “Oh believe me, Ms. Knott, with or without love, this marriage will be a real one. In every sense of the word.”

BLOG TOUR: PAINTED LINE BY BREI BETZOLD

SYNOPSIS:

Scout has always wanted to follow in her family’s business of custom bike building. Being female never stopped her from getting greasy and slapping on paint with the best of them, and made her work even harder at opening up her own shop someday.

When an opportunity to win $500,000 dollars in prize money presents itself, Scout and her group of misfit friends sign on the dotted line to be filmed for a reality television show to win it. But like anything in life there’s always a catch to free money.

When nightmares of the past meet dreams of the future, Scout is forced to face her demons, or be quickly over run by the memories. In the midst of her inner turmoil, family will come home, and possibly a life she never expected to have could be within her grasp.

Excerpt from Painted Lines

“Good morning, Scout,” she sing-songed.

I flipped her off and headed for the coffee pot.

“So what did you do last night?” she asked giggling at me.

“Me,” Thayne said walking out of the bedroom, ruffling her hair as he passed by. She shrieked something about her hair then took off running to the bathroom and it was my turn to laugh.

“Morning,” he whispered before leaning down and kissing me. I leaned back on the counter letting it bear some of my weight, as he kissed me breathless.

When we finally broke apart at the gagging sound coming from Nikki, I was lightheaded.

“Nikki, you ready to go?”

“Yeah,” she mumbled around a mouthful of cereal.

I leaned up and kissed him. “Okay I am heading out, see you in a few?”

“Yeah, Bella,” he murmured before kissing me once again, I pushed him away laughing.

“I’ve got to leave now, or we’ll be late.”

He sighed and ran his fingers through his hair. I watched his muscles ripple across his bare chest and swallowed hard.

“Go,” he ordered, “now.”

I nodded and headed for the front door grabbing my helmet and ran to Stella—I was so dead.

Jenn’s Review of Painted Lines

Well when I first started this book I knew it would be different from Brei’s other books.  I love her My Misery Muse books so I was really excited to dive into this one.  From the first chapter to the very last, I cursed anything that made me put down my iPhone or iPad… The book was captivating and hauntingly beautiful!  It took me on a whirlwind of emotions time and time again.  The only problem was that it ended!  I was definately left wanting more…

Scout is not your typical girly girl… She’s a tough one!  Brought up around bikers and bike shops all her life she became immersed in a world that most girls, don’t care about.  Scout has dreams and she will stop at nothing to fulfill them.  Including risking her own life.  And I do mean that literally…

This is where the book is amazing!  The story surrounding Scout’s past is down right horrifying.  I cannot even tell you how many times my heart was left fileted open and bleeding out for this girls pain and what she has gone through… I’m getting teary just writing this remembering.  What grips you is the fact that it is SOOOOOOO believable.  You hear horror stories all the times and when you sit back and read about it in detail as this was laid out it shatters everything in your heart.  How could any human do this to someone else. In Scout’s case how could the people that were supposed to love and protect her allow it to happen.

So as the story unfolds so do the secrets that surround Scout. And their are a LOT of them… The already traumatized Scout has to deal with daily reminders of what happened to her as someone feels the need to sabotage their work during the competition. When Thayne walks into the picture everything starts to change… I didn’t like him at first.  In fact I disliked him A LOT!  He had no idea what was going on or what the past held for Scout and he was protecting someone that he shouldn’t have been.  It wasn’t until the truth came out and he started to see the light where people involved were concerned… I wanted to hug him and tell him that it was ok he had no idea and he was protecting people he believed nothing bad about.  When he finally gets the full truth he reacts the appropriate way… Thayne was so good for Scout despite her issues he was willing to stand by her and be her rock in this crazy situation!

I was a hot mess during the last chapter of this book… It was pretty much a see it coming moment but that didn’t matter one bit because everything about it ripped my heart out… It will blow you away!

I was so emotionally invested in this book.  It’s been a while since I immersed myself in a book like this that just ripped at every part of your self control.  I wanted to hurt someone for Scout.  I was able to connect with each and every character throughout this book.  I felt the pain and hopelessness of not only her but the friends and family surrounding her.  I laughed at her quick whit and sarcasm and ugly cried in her worst moments of despair.

If you want a soul wrenching read with an ending that will leave you breathless… Read Painted Lines… I give it 5 STARS and if we rated higher I’d give it so much more… Brie did such an amazing job with this one, I don’t know how she did it personally I commend any author that can write this type of sensitive subject it isn’t easy to read, I couldn’t imagine trying to write it…

BLOG TOUR: THE FORGOTTEN ONES BY LAURA HOWARD

Title: The Forgotten Ones (The Danaan Trilogy #1)

 Author: Laura Howard

Release date: May 15, 2013

 Age Group: New Adult

Genre: Paranormal
SYNOPSIS:

Allison O’Malley just graduated from college. Her life’s plan is to get a job and take care of her schizophrenic mother. She doesn’t have room for friends or even Ethan, who clearly wants more.

When Allison’s long-lost father shows up, he claims he can bring her mother back from the dark place her mind has sent her. He reveals legends of a race of people long forgotten, the Tuatha de Danaan, along with the truth about why he abandoned her mother.

Jenn’s Review of The Forgotten Ones

I wasn’t sure what to expect from the Synopsis of this book.  I love paranormal reads especially in the New Adult/Young Adult category.  Some of my favorites come from this genre.  I think that Laura did a really good job with this book.

Allison O’Malley is sort of displaced in the world due to her mother’s illness.  She refuses to get close to people out of fear that they won’t accept her mother and her decision to take care of her mother.  Despite her best efforts her cousin and neighbor doesn’t allow Allison to completely retreat from all social interaction.  Allison is in love with Ethan, but she refuses to give it any chance because of what her future holds.

I felt really bad for Allison, being a teenager and growing into an adult isn’t easy, and having the burden of her mother’s illness makes it even harder for her.  She doesn’t have a lot of friends and she would rather stay home and read a book then go out and do anything.  Ethan is pretty relentless though and doesn’t give up trying with her repeatedly.  The boy is either in love with her too, or he just wants her to have some fun… I’m guessing the prior is true but well boys can be fickle and stupid…

The twist comes when the father Allison never new shows up and she is pushed into a whole world that she doesn’t know exists.  This is where the story stake a complete turn and becomes a little crazy… The world that Laura paints is intriguing.  Although I felt it was a little bit short and needed to be a lot more detailed, it was still a good start to this trilogy.  Hopefully in future books we will get a lot more detail about the Danaan world.

I needed a little bit more at the end about Ethan, some pretty crazy things go down and because of what she is involved in Ethan gets sucked in, but once they return to the human world, the story with him kind of stopped.  I am hoping that it will pick back up in book 2.

Overall the storyline was good.  I was happy with the way the book ended, with a promise of more and it wasn’t a huge cliffhanger.  For a first time author the book was very clean and well developed with the few exceptions that I mentioned.  If you like paranormal books this one gets a solid 4 stars from me.  I am excited to read book 2 and see where the development of the story leads.

Jenn’s Interview with the Mysterious Mr. BE
So I’ve traveled to Las Vegas to meet up with Mr. BE… I can say I’m a little nervous because honestly this man is such a mystery… He agreed to meet me here at Canaletto in the Venetian Hotel. We are just steps away from where he and Alysin (shhhh he doesn’t know her name yet) will be meeting again…

As I approach the outdoor seating area I spot a really HOT man sitting at a table alone looking around like he’s looking or waiting for someone. Our eyes meet and he waves to me. I’m a little dumbstruck because he is way better looking than the image I had in my head… YIKES! I realize that I am standing staring and he has that humorous glint in his eyes. He knows the effect he has on women. When he winks at me I just about lose all composure… OY, this will be one difficult interview….

I walk toward him steeling my resolve to be professional about this. I can hold it together he isn’t the first guy I’ve interviewed that gave me butterflies…

J: Hello Mr. BE, it’s so nice to finally meet you. (I say as I hold out my hand to shake his)

BE: I guess just call me BE. I mean, it would be wrong to give you my name before I give it to her.

J: So are you excited to finally get to see your mystery girl today?

BE: The waiting has been killing me. This has been the longest week of my life. Never before has anyone ever gotten under my skin like she has. (he sighed longingly)

J: Let’s order and then we can chat a little bit (I say as I wink at him, god this man is sex on a stick)

BE: I hope I can eat. (He tilted his head as he considered it.) Nope. I’ll just have a soda. I need to settle my stomach.

After we order and our drinks have been delivered I sit back and try to relax but honestly who could relax, I notice the women checking him out as they pass by our table, milling around the Palazzo area. This is a high traffic area of the hotel.

J: So let’s start with a few questions. Shall we?

BE: Absolutely. You will make for a lovely distraction. (He winked at me again!)

J: When you first met ummmm…. Your mystery girl, and she kissed you what was running through your head?

BE: It was like a scene out of a movie. These things just don’t happen in real life, especially in my life. There she was, sex incarnate, changing my life and stealing my heart without even trying.

J: We literally know nothing about you not your background or what you do or even your first name… Any chance you’ll tell me your name? (I wink at him playfully)

BE: She would kill me. You know this. You know what she’s like. She has been able to run away from so many situations. I can’t give her any reason to run away from me. You understand.

J: Yeah didn’t think so… So anyway… What did you think about her offer when she first put it out their on the table. It was pretty forward for a woman to proposition a man in such a way.

BE: I swear she made my blood rush south of the border from the first time she whispered in my ear. There’s something refreshing about a woman who doesn’t play games, who is bold, even a bit brazen. She is one of a kind.

J: You sure did spoil her rotten did you think that maybe if you spoiled her you would get to keep her in the end? I mean she was pretty clear up front that she didn’t want any strings attached.

BE: Yeah. I spoiled her because I wanted to and because I can afford to. I mean, you can’t take it with you, right? What does money matter? It was nice just having her company, seeing her face light up. I enjoy spending time with her, but tying her down…would be wrong.

J: What do you hope happens here when you two reunite today? I mean you have had no contact at all since your last minute together. Are you nervous that she might not show or that the time apart made her feelings change at all?

BE: I didn’t until NOW. Thanks for that. Wow. What if she doesn’t come? I can’t think that way. There is something between us. I have to believe the tug of it will bring her back to me.

J: Can you tell us what you do for a living? I really am thinking self-made milionare personally. I mean look at you and the gifts that you lavished on her… They weren’t exactly ordinary in any sense…

BE: No, but neither is she. Let’s say…I invested wisely my whole life…my time, my energy, my talents. I didn’t spend frivolously. And I don’t consider any money spent on her frivolous. (he smiled widely at me)

J: What are your plans with her tonight? Besides the obvious…

BE: I hope to start breaking some of those rules. I hope she’ll give me at least another week, even if I really would rather it be a month or the rest of my life.

Ok I am going to ask you a few questions that will hopefully let us in a little on your secrets…. You ready?

BE: Sure. Why not?

J: Vanilla or Chocolate?
BE: Chocolate.

J: Hut on the Beach or Cabin in the Woods?
BE: Hut on the beach

J: Sunrise or Sunset?
BE: Sunset

J: Liquor or Beer?
BE: Liquor

J: Boxers or Briefs?
BE: Boxers…I gotta let the boys breathe if I’m going to keep up with that little vixen.

J: Sex in the Hot Tub or Shower?
BE: Hmmm…with her….close call. Shower.

Ok so now the last question I like to ask all my interviews and this will probably be a big one for you since we literally don’t even know your name…

J: Tell me one thing about you that we don’t already know… (god I hope that this is a good one!)

BE: I didn’t come to Vegas alone. I brought a woman with me.

J: (My eyebrows rose in shock and I choked on my drink.) What?

BE: My sister insisted on joining me. And I hoped maybe she could distract Jolie. (He smiled and winked.)

We finish up our dinner and the waitress clears our plates. When we are asked if we want dessert he insists that we need to get some Gleatto… Of course it’s like ice cream…

J: By the way what is your obsession with ice cream?

BE: It’s the perfect summer treat. I love it. (He smirked.)

We finish up our Gelatto and as we stand he sees someone out of the corner of his eyes and his face lights up like fireworks on the Fourth of July.

J: Thank you for meeting with me… I see what you’re looking at… Go get her!

BE: Thank you. It was nice meeting you! (He said as he rushed off toward the gondolas.)

Well that’s all we have the happy couple is heading off to lala land and I’m headed to the casino! I hear the poker tables calling my name!

It was a great time sitting down with Mr. BE… I can’t say that I know him any better than I did from the first part of this story… I only hope that the next part tells me more than he did today!

Thanks for reading along!

Jenn’s Review of Sin at Sea

This book was intriuging from the first words on the page. It’s short and very fast paced but it gave us a lot of information in a short amount of time… Of course information about Alysin *smirks* not so much about Mr. BE… sigh….

So Alysin is a runner, no I don’t mean in the sense that she dawns running shoes. She runs from everything and anything that can hurt her emotionally, she’s closed off her heart and is a no strings attached kind of girl… Alysin is a smart and fun woman, but treat her wrong and it’s time to pack up and move. Yes I said MOVE. She’s a little crazy I think I mean who does that but when you form no physical attachments to ANYTHING you have that ability.

So she’s running in Sin at Sea right into the arms of what could be the biggest heartbreak of her life. Her GO FOR IT ALL attitude lands her in a week long agreement to pretend to be the wife of a man she doesn’t know at all. The indecent proposal *from her* is no strings, no names and no further contact after the week is through… Mr. BE rocks Alysin to her core, in and out of the bedroom. He’s completely different from any other man she has ever known or been with. To say he’s a little perfect is sort of an understatement!

Mr. BE… well we don’t know squat about him personally other then he is good in the bedroom, has some eyes to die for and is down right HOT, and I mean HOT! But he has to be hiding something, no man is this perfect, but we never find out anything about him that would make you want to throw him overboard on this Sea Cruise… But in the end we are left knowing that we will be getting more… *stands up shouting YES!*

So overall this book is loaded with sex! Yeah and not just the traditional male/female either… I won’t give you details but let’s just say that their are some really crazy moments that will probably make you blush a bit… *I sure did* Emma has done one fantastic job reeling in the reader and leaving them wanting so much more…

Even in this short book their is really good character development and the storyline is both intriguing and interesting! It’s a short HOT read! I gave Emma 5 STARS for Sin at Sea I think it’s well written and had the perfect amount of romance, passion and love! Yes I did say LOVE! *winks* Stay tuned for Vixen in Vegas coming soon…

BLOG TOUR: SAVOR YOU BY EMILY SNOW

Synopsis:

Kylie Wolfe and guitarist Wyatt McRae have been bad for each other for the last several years, but it’s impossible for them to end their toxic push and pull. Not when their attraction is constantly fueled by lust and proximity—she’s her older brother’s Lucas’s assistant and Wyatt is his best friend and bandmate.

So when Your Toxic Sequel makes a move to record a new album in Nashville, Kylie decides to make the latest break with Wyatt official by getting the hell out of town. She’ll spend a week in New Orleans. A week to immerse herself in the Mardi Gras scene. One week to not think about the last time she was in
New Orleans, seven years ago with Wyatt. Seven days where she won’t have to see Wyatt every day just to fall ridiculously in love with him all over again—where, if she wants to, she can have a normal, nostrings attached fling that won’t end in heartbreak.

Too bad Wyatt ruins everything by showing up, as gorgeous and demanding and goddamn awful for her as ever.

Wyatt refuses to let Kylie give up on him. Not without reminding her why they both fell so far and hard in the first place. Not without making her savor the good memories and what could be their last chance with each other.

Note: This is a spinoff from the Devoured series.

Jenn’s Review of Savor You
Once again I must say I am blown away with Emily’s writing.  I was a huge fan of Devoured and then the prequel novella All Over You.  I love the members of Your Toxic Sequel and espeically Kylie!  I loved her from the first time we met her in Devoured.  She’s snarky and sassy and she has that take no “sh*t” attitude from anyone no matter how rich, famous or related you are…  This story sucked me in from the very first page to the last.  Because of the whilrwind that is Kylie and Wyatt it was a fairly fast read.
Kylie and Wyatt have a history.  Kylie the sister of Lucas Wolfe front man of Your Toxic Sequel, has an issue.  She’s been addicted to Wyatt McRae for years…  The problem is that nothing ever good comes from this addiction.  Every time they are together the fireworks explode. But when it ends, both of them end up hurt and alone.

So it’s time for a new album to be recorded and being the assistant and sister of the lead singer she will have to face Wyatt yet again.  In a feeble attempt to get away from what she knows will be a disastrous event, she demands a vacation from her job and escapes to New Orleans with her best friend…

Wyatt has a past that is unavoidable.  The problem is that no matter how much he screws up the one woman that he wants has now run off…  So what does he do… The only thing he can.  He goes to New Orleans to prove to Kylie how good they are together… And WoW does he prove it!
So Kylie and Wyatt are HOT HOT HOT like beyond… They have a chemistry and passion that sizzles in and out of the bedroom.  Their little trip down memory lane isn’t all hearts and flowers.  Their is some real deep down hurt, betrayal and frustration.  Kylie often lets the past define her decisions all too often.  She’s done with the regrets and the pain that Wyatt brings in and out of her life.
With Kylie’s quick whit and Wyatt’s sexy comebacks it’s a battle of the wills and who is willing to give first is the question.
I have to say as much as I enjoy these two, the supporting characters that are along for the ride are FANTASTIC! Cal and Heidi added some great moments to this book! They are funny and quick with the tongue and one liners…   I can only hope that we see more of them in the future.
I really loved the way Emily made this book follow along with Lucas and Sienna’s story in Devoured.  It was really well do and I loved seeing Lucas at times during the book.  Emily’s writing has grown so much and her storytelling gets better with each book she writes. There was quite a twist at the end of this book that I can say for sure I didn’t see coming.  It was something that was mentioned earlier on in the book but I never put it together.  Ahhh… You’ll have to read this book to know what I am talking about I can’t give it away!
Emily has earned the full 5 stars from this FAN!  I know I will be re-reading this one as I have done the others prior to release of Consumed which is the continuation of Lucas and Sienna’s story… I for one will be begging Emily to give us more Heidi and Cal… They are off the charts love/hate and passion…

BLOG TOUR: THE ENFORCER BY NIKKI WORRELL

Synopsis:

Lacey Benoit is in need of a fresh start. Her best friend, Dr. Zoe Millis, has been begging her to make the move from Maine to California. Taking a leap of faith, Lacey does just that.

Living in San Diego definitely has its perks, such as, sunshine and beaches. The best part of moving to the west coast, however, is that Steven is still on the east coast. Catching your almost husband having sex with one of your bridesmaids on your wedding day would make even the strongest woman jaded. Therefore, Lacey has sworn off men for a while, especially men who travel a lot that have easy access to loose women.

When Lacey meets the new enforcer for the San Diego Scorpions, she thinks she might be in trouble. But she is determined to fight her attraction to the sexy NHL hunk. And she is successful…for about a day.

Excerpt from The Enforcer

(Lacey meets Jody for the first time)

Holy shit on a shingle! Lacey shook his hand and then just stood there and gawked at him. His 6 foot 3 inch frame held his 230 pounds perfectly. He had the lightest blue/grey eyes she’d ever seen. His sandy blonde hair looked like he’d just run his fingers through it, spiking it in the front. He had a crooked smile and a crooked nose to go with it. You could tell this man’s nose had been broken once or twice or six times. But it worked for him. His grey t-shirt had the team logo on it and fit like a second skin. Then she got to his jeans. Jeans? Jeans sounded so innocent, but there was nothing innocent about the way his jeans hung on those hips. Those jeans looked like they were honored to be on him. I know I would be, Lacey thought. He…was…absolutely…stunningly…delicious. Delicious with a capital D!

Jenn’s Review of The Enforcer
This book was really unexpected for me.  The whole don’t judge a book by it’s cover or the title is clearly ENFORCED in this book.  I was so surprised by the story that unfolded before me. I’m a huge hockey fan so I had really high hopes for a good read that included some good hockey moments.
The book revolves around Lacey our heroine.  Lacey is a a strong take no crap kind of girl.  Well at least she is now after getting burned by her ex-fiance!  Wow what a great guy Steven was… Lacey has decided she’s finally going to give into her best friend Zoe and move to California.  Upon arriving, Zoe is quickly sucked into the life surrounding the Scorpions. Specifically their newest trade Jody LaGrange.  Lacey has sworn that anything she is looking for is just causal.  Yeah well she does try her hardest…
Jody LaGrange has just been traded to the San Diego Scorpions, as the new guy he has to fit in.  A condition of the team is that they all see the teams therapist Dr. Millis.  Since she takes her appts in her home to make the players more comfortable, he’s greeted with the stunning beauty that is Lacey Benoit… Jody doesn’t know what it is about Lacey but there is instant attraction and appeal their from the moment their eyes meet… Well that and the attire that she is wearing during their first meeting might have him a little excited!
I’m not a believer in love at first sight, and though Jody’s instant attraction and feelings toward Lacey are evident they take their time getting to know each other better.  Jody might be a brut and a fighter on the ice, but off the ice he is a teddy bear… He is super romantic and pays very close attention to everything Lacey desires and enjoys… He really was the perfect man, even if he was possessive and a little domineering.  He knew his faults and made moves to work on them.  He didn’t have the best family life and he’d been handed a few broken hearts in the past.  He’s a hockey player so you’d expect women to throw themselves at him, but Jody wanted to settle down and find his dream girl…
Their were some really hot and steamy moments that weren’t off the charts but were just enough.  But the sexual tension and build up really kept you wanting more…
I could go on and on about how great Jody was, but I think you get the picture.  Their were some surprises throughout the book.    The supporting roles by Zoe and Vlad are complimentary and we get just enough of them to want more… Which set her up for the next book perfectly!  Zoe and Vlad have some serious off the charts tension going on and I found myself wanting to tell them to get a room and get it over with, but their are reasons that cannot happen so I cannot wait to see where this goes in the next book.
Nikki does a fantastic job developing the relationship of these two characters.  The flow of the story was natural, though a little drawn out at times, it was still rock solid for a first time author!  I give The Enforcer a  solid 4 stars and I am really looking forward to more from this author…

Jenn’s Review of Fading
I wasn’t sure what to think about this book after reading the synopsis.  I was expecting to be emotionally wrecked after reading this one, but honestly that wasn’t the case.  I have to admit that I did cry around 11-12% into this book and it was really emotional.  After that their was a large section of the book that just didn’t do it for me at all.  At the halfway point of the book it picked back up again when Ryan entered the picture…
So let’s talk about Candace our heroine. I have to say that I wasn’t fond of her character. Yes I understand that she has had a tough life and her family sucks. Hands down probably some of the worst ever… Candace is studying the Arts and wants to be a professional ballerina which her family feels is a terrible career choice (they are rich and pretentious).  They even try to force her hand at a different path, which doesn’t go over well.  What I didn’t like here was that she seemed to use this dysfunctional family life as a crutch to her problems in establishing relationships.  It just didn’t fit. She had such loving relationships with Jase, Mark and Kimber, so it sort of didn’t make sense when she kept telling Ryan she didn’t know what she was doing.  It confused me.  I’m not sure that I ever felt that she truly healed from everything that she went through.  I felt like the last 50% she was trying but not sure she ever got to that point. I didn’t like that she turned away from the girl that she considered to be like a sister.   When you go through something traumatic like she did, wouldn’t you embrace the person that you felt closest too? I loved Kimber from the beginning and I was really sad to see how little she was mentioned in the rest of the book.

What I did like about Candace was the way she embraced Ryan. Even though she was terrified, when she fell for him she fell hard and it was consuming, which is how love should feel…

Ryan is a sweetheart and though it was predictable who Ryan was, I was totally shocked at how loving and tender his character was.  He was the biggest and most welcome surprise for me in this story.  Ryan had a horrible background and he had some demons that he faced.  Despite his issues growing up Ryan really made something of himself.  He is a successful bar owner and he really has grown into a good man.  I loved Ryan’s family, even with the issues of the past his mother came out on top and she was so caring.  They invited Candace in with open arms.  When Ryan opens up and exposes all his demons to Candace I wanted for her too come forward at that time with her own.  I so desperately wanted her to open up and be honest with him so he could help her move past her fears.  He was there for the long haul that was obvious.  He loved her almost from the moment he laid eyes on her.

Their was a lot of detail that surrounded the ballet part of the story, though that was an important part of her life, it was described a few times in detail and it was a bit redundant.  The details sometimes distracted from the main focus of the book.

The supporting cast Jase, Mark and even Roxy were great.  I loved that they were so supportive of Candace, and did everything they could to help her.  They were true friends that stand by you through anything, even bad decisions.

There are some really beautiful moments in this story, I can’t give away too much detail but when you read it I think you will recognize them.  Ryan’s tenderness and loving touch, were enough to pull it around in the end… That last 50% really did make me happy…

I sort of wished that this book would have been written in alternating POV.  Since the prolog started out from Ryan’s POV I was hoping that it was going to continue to be that way… That prolog will grip you and suck you in.

Overall the story was really well written, and the editing was really good, which is sometimes rare for a first time author… E.K. Blair did her homework where that was concerned.  I am giving this one 3.5 stars, for a first novel it’s a great effort! I really like her writing style and I really loved Ryan a lot.

EXCERPT FROM FADING

I had a bunch of experts to pick from and this happened to be included.  This was one of those scenes that was highly emotionally charged and happened to be one of the scenes I really liked a lot.  Enjoy! ~ Jenn

Candace in the Rain

As I drive, reality slowly starts creeping back in, and the weight in my chest returns. The thunder continues to rumble, and I feel like the weather fits my mood perfectly. The clouds open, and the rain begins to crash down on my windshield. I turn my wipers on high, but I struggle to see the road ahead. I pull into one of the empty parking lots on campus to wait until the rain lightens up. While sitting in the car, I listen to the rain beating violently against the steel.

For some reason, I get the urge to get out of my car. I open the door and step out into the rain. Closing the door, I lean against the car, and within seconds, I’m drenched. The beating of the raindrops against my delicate skin feels good, almost painful in a way—but good. I lean my head back and feel the pellets as they strike my face. I enjoy the biting sensation. With my eyes closed, I just stand there, wishing I could live here, in this vacant lot, alone, focusing on nothing more than the stinging pleasure of the storm as it batters me. Knowing that this will soon end, that the sun is lingering behind the clouds and I will be faced with the hell that is my life, my body slides down the side of my car, and I sit in a puddle of water on the dirty ground and cry.

Why didn’t I fight more?
