I’ve given up everything for the chance to play major league baseball. Everything. Now I’m so close I can practically hear the crowd chanting my name. There’s nothing that could take my dream away from me . . .

Unless I lose focus. And Ainsley Burke is the most beautiful, distracting woman I’ve ever met. When I’m with her, I can’t think of anything else.

But no matter how much I want Ainsley, there’s no room for love in my game plan. I can give her a quick tour of the bases, but that’s it. Then I have to let her go. If she wants to think I’m a love ’em and leave ’em player, fine.

All dreams require sacrifice. I just wish this one didn’t mean tearing out my own heart.

My Review

I think that I maybe have found new BBF from Heidi McLaughlin!  I really loved this story from the very beginning.  I think that Heidi does a wonderful job showcasing what it’s like to be a young player on a team where he isn’t quite needed.  When Cooper is brought to the Renegades he thinks he’s going to be replacing their long time star player who is about to retire.  What he doesn’t envision is a fight to earn a spot on the team.  Luckily Cooper isn’t full of himself and when he’s offered help in building his game from said soon to be retiring star he isn’t too proud to take all the help he can get.  It’s spring training and Cooper needs to focus everything on making a name for himself so come regular season he’s a force to be reckoned with.  But the one thing he didn’t count on was a girl, not only breaking his concentration, but stealing his heart.

Cooper isn’t your typical full of himself jock… Oh don’t get me wrong he has that cocky swagger of every athlete but their is a realness too his pursuit.  He’s not just looking for one night with Ainsley, but unfortunately come the end of Spring Training Cooper will be back in Boston and that’s a long way from the Florida Sun!  And of course there is his overbearing father that would never approve of a relationship with any woman.  Baseball in his fathers eyes should be he only love….Ainsley is stubborn and sweet, she’s going through so much in her life adding a baseball player to the mix just isn’t in the cards.  She wants to believe Cooper is different, but she’s seen this all happen before… Spring Flings are something common in her neck of the woods.  Coopers relentless pursuit eventually wears her down, and I absolutely LOVED their dynamic… Cooper and Ainsley make the perfect couple!  But we all know that this wouldn’t be a romance without a little drama, and boy did theirs add up FAST!!!!!

I read pretty furiously through the last twenty or so percent of this book!  Heidi definitely threw me for a loop with this one!  I can honestly say till the moment it was revealed I didn’t see the twist coming and boy is this one crazy twist!  If you haven’t read the first book in the Boys of Summer series it’s totally fine you don’t have to as each book stands on it’s own.  I really loved the first book in this series, but there was something ultimately special about Cooper and Ainsley!  I highly recommend picking up a copy of this one, you won’t be sorry!
