Does she throw caution to the wind and open her heart? Or listen to her head that tells her and go it alone until she’s found herself again?
This book was coming highly recommended to my by a few people that I have very similar tastes as, and I was seriously excited to have the opportunity to read and review this one. The synopsis gripped me right from the very beginning. I must say that this book had some unexpected twists and turns that even I couldn’t have seen coming…
Lily and Gavin are an unlikely match brought together by tragedy that stole both of their spouses. What happens when the unexpected is thrown in your lap. For Lily the loss of her husband was a huge weight of her shoulders, now you might say wow that’s cold, but in this very case… Well… Justice was served ten fold. The guy was a horrible human being let alone not fit to be a husband. As all of his secrets were unraveled Lily became more and more of a pawn in a dangerous game she didn’t even know he was playing! This man had his hand in a LOT of cookie jars.
Gavin was dealing with his own grief over his loss, and to tell you the truth, as much as I felt for him, I felt he was better off. The owner of a multi-million dollar company Gavin didn’t have time to play the games he was forced to play with his wife. Her downward spiral was costing him his job, his life and his happiness.
When Lily and Gavin are thrown together for their own protection, their banter, bickering, push and pull, will make you stand up and cheer! They seem so perfect for each other. But paradise it is not, while they are trying to mend their hearts, find their true happiness they are thrown massive curve balls. Misunderstandings and shattered and torn insecurities plague this couple, and as hard as they fight to be together, they continue to push each other away for fear of rejection. It’s a true struggle on both of their parts. Knowing ahead of time that this was a three part series I knew that going in I wasn’t going to have the beautiful HEA at the end of this book, but I truly feel like Isabelle left us off at a great spot, with a more of a too be continued feeling.
For a first time author I found that this book had a great well thought out plot, beautifully developed characters, a solid foundation for the building of a second chance at love, and one incredibly hot, sexy and suave British man! Gah! I really did fall very hard for Gavin in this book, and only hope that there are more good things to come…. I truly enjoyed this one and I would recommend it if you love romantic suspense with some twists that will truly keep you on the edge of your seat…
