BLOG TOUR: YOU WERE MINE BY ABBI GLINES

YOU WERE MINE by Abbi Glines

Gossip is the ultimate currency in Rosemary Beach, but Bethy and Tripp have managed to keep one big secret to themselves.
Eight years ago, Tripp Newark was dating a rich girl he didn’t like and was on his way to Yale—and a future he didn’t want. The only way he could escape his predictable life would be to give up the money and power that came with his family’s name. And that’s exactly what he planned to do. At the end of the summer, he was going to ride off on his Harley and never look back.

That was before he met Beth Lowry.

It was only supposed to be a summer fling. She was a sixteen-year-old trailer-park girl who served drinks to his friends at Kerrington Country Club. They didn’t run in the same social circles. No one even knew they were friends, let alone lovers. Yet, for one summer, Bethy became his entire world.

But he couldn’t give up on his plan. He needed to leave Rosemary Beach, but he vowed he would come back for her.

Problem was, by the time he came back—years later than promised—it was too late. His cousin, Jace, had already claimed the woman he loved. . . .

My Review:

If you are an Abbi Glines fan you know that this book was a much anticipated read after hearing that Bethy and Tripp had a past.  We never really had the details about their relationship in the past until now…

Bethy and Tripp’s story will knock you to your knees with sadness and heartbreak… The many years of guilt and sadness over what Bethy had done years ago ate at her, it affected her relationship with the man she was in love with, the man who changed her from being a bit of a slut into a woman she could be proud of…. That all fell apart the night she feels she caused that love to end… It was all Tripps fault.

His return to Rosemary Beach threw Bethy into a tailspin of emotion and past regrets.  She started to question everything and she hated herself and him for it.  Her push and pull struggle to deal with the events of the past and having them collide with the the present was not something Bethy ever thought she’d have to deal with.  At times I felt like this book could never possibly have a happy ending.  But Abbi never fails to bring about the happiness in the end.  Once the secrets are revealed Bethy has a new outlook on the past and the future, and she’s brought back to life again. This turning point will have you cheering for Bethy to find happiness again.

This book has all the elements you need in a good read.  If you love Abbi Glines books you will love Bethy and Tripp’s story just be prepared with tissues cause reliving the past will cause some tears…  I love how Abbi always intertwines my favorite characters from the past books.  You will see Rush, Woods, Della, Blaire, Grant, Harlow and all your favorites from this series pop up as they all continue to grow together through each book, the friendships they have built, that will never end… I’ll be sad to see this series come to a close when it’s time…. I give this one 4 stars.  To me the ending was a bit rushed but overall another fantastic addition to the Rosemary Beach series!  This continues to be my favorite series by Abbi Glines!
