BLOG TOUR: THE ACCIDENTAL ASSASSIN AN INTERVEW WITH NICHOLE CHASE

Synopsis:
Ava McKenzie is a creature of habit. Life is passing her by and she has nothing to show for it. She’s had the same job since she started college, she orders the same dish every time she goes to her favorite restaurant, and only reads books from authors she knows. There is nothing new or surprising in her life… until her best friend marries a man from London. When her newlywed friend asks her to house-sit while she honeymoons, Ava jumps at the chance. She thinks this could be the very thing she needs to shake up her life. Ava throws herself head first into her new lifestyle; she wants to try everything, go everywhere, and never get stuck in a rut again. Of course, offing a man in a car garage hadn’t been one of the things on her list to try.

Owen Walker spends every day in a new place with a new case. As one of the most renowned assassins in the world, he has his choice of marks—and he’s never failed in a mission. When a new hit takes him back to his hometown, he looks forward to spending time somewhere familiar. What he isn’t expecting is to help an attractive, confused American woman find out how she’s ended up on a hit man’s list.

As Ava and Owen dodge bullets, will they be able to escape their undeniable attraction to each other? Or will all of that chemistry blow up in a shower of hot and dangerous sparks?

An Interview with Nichole Chase:

I’m here today with Nichole Chase, who’s recently released a new book called The Accidental Assassin.
J: Hi Nichole, thank you for joining us here today at Wolfel’s World of Books.
N: Hi! Thank you so much for having me.
J: So this is your first book in a new series.  Can you tell us how you came up with the idea for this book.  It’s a very unique story line.
N: It actually started as a wild idea I blurted out while joking with a friend. Only, it started to evolve in my head and I started to get really excited. A plot and characters were forming in my head. So, I started writing and plotting.
J: When you were writing it did you have any specific muses for Owen and Ava’s characters?
N: You know, Ava and Owen were completely fabricated in my mind. If I had to pick someone to be Owen, I would say that Chris Pine would be a good fit. As for Ava, that is more difficult. Maybe Jessica Stroup? That’s the closest person I’ve seen to what I picture in my mind.
J: If you could use just one word to describe The Accidental Assassin what would it be?
N: Fun.
J: There is a lot of hype surrounding books being turned into movies these days, if you could have one of your books made into a movie which one would it be and why?
N: Oooh. That’s tough. Not all books translate well into film.  I think THE ACCIDNETAL ASSASSIN would be fun to watch on the big screen.
J: Who would you have play the lead male and female roles if you could choose?
N: Oh, I don’t know. A lot goes into picking the people that play parts in movies.
J: Suddenly Royal, was a New York Times Bestseller, can you tell us where you were when you found out you’d made this list, and how you felt about it?
N: Suddenly Royal was my fifth published novel, but the first to hit the New York Times Bestseller List. I was cooking dinner when my publicist called me. I said an explicative in shock and then told my daughter not to repeat that word. Needless to say, I burnt dinner between crying and laughing. It was one of the craziest feelings I’ve ever experienced.
J: The book is now published under Harper Collins as is Recklessly Royal and Reluctantly Royal, can you tell us a little bit about the process you go through writing and releasing a traditionally published book vs. self-publishing.
N: Much of it is similar. The writing process is the same and the editing process is similar. There are a few additional steps, like pass pages, for the traditional publisher and I don’t have to load it to the retail sites and get formatting done. BUT it also means a much longer wait between finishing a book and publication. That means the author has already moved on to their next project by the time it releases. For me, it makes me feel a little distant from the project because I’m already caught up in another story.
J: What advice is the most valuable piece of advice you were given when you started writing?
N: Just keep writing. Ignore the haters and write the story you want to read. Don’t try to write something to follow a popular trend in books—write what you have in your head. You could be the next big trend.
Just a few more fun questions for our readers to get to know you just a little bit better… Ready?
J: Chocolate or Vanilla?
N: Vanilla
J: What is your favorite food?
N: Japanese
J: If you could have a superhero power what would it be and why?
N:  Flying. That would be amazing.  Or disappearing. Is that a superhero power?
J: When you’re not writing what do you like to do for fun?
N: Paint, read, craft. Play with my daughter.
J: What is your favorite place to vacation?
N: My daughter is still young, so going to Disney World is a lot of fun. I get to experience all of the magic through her eyes. If I was going on vacation with just me and my husband I would say anywhere beautiful that we could relax.
J: If you could meet one author living or dead who would it be and why?
N: Now that’s just not a fair question. Okay. Anne McCaffrey.

J: If you were stranded on an island and could only have one book with you what book would it be and why?
N: Pride and Prejudice.
J: Well that’s all I have, I would like to thank you for taking the time to sit down an answer a few questions… I have read The Accidental Assassin and I loved it!  I wish you great success with this new series and I will be sure to encourage our readers to pick it up and read it.
N: Thank you so much!

My Review:

I can sum up this book in one word.  UNIQUE!  This book has so many things that I’ve never seen before in a book and it is surely what sets it apart from the rest of the pack.  Nichole has written a story that will be sticking with you long after you’ve finished….

I absolutely loved Ava, she wasn’t some weak minded heroine, she was strong and assertive and even when staring down the barrel of a gun and scared out of her mind, she’s able to think and make her own demands from Owen.  Owen is just… sigh… I loved him from the minute he stepped into the book.  Yes he’s a cold blooded killer, but he has his reasons and well… I find them to be justifiable!  And so does Ava!  This is one unlikely pairing of characters, but you will find yourself falling in love with them and cheering them on!

Nichole has created an intricate story that weaves us through some of the darker ways of the world, all while bringing a lighthearted feeling.  My heart was pounding from beginning to end with this one.  I never could be sure what was going to happen next with these two.  And just when you think you’ve got it all figured out at the end… You find out it’s really just scratching the surface!  I give Nichole 5 stars for creating a book that has such uniqueness to it, creating characters that you fall in love with and a story that you don’t want to put down or have end!  This one is a must read on my list!

Nichole Chase is the New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of Suddenly Royal, Flukes, The Dark Betrayal Trilogy, and several short stories. She is also the instructor of Say What? a dialogue class at the Romance Academy.

Nichole lives in Georgia with her husband, energetic daughter, superhero dog, Sulcata tortoise, and two cats. When not writing, you may find her reading, painting, crafting, or chasing her daughter around the house while making monster noises.
