The Fire Between High & Lo
Synopsis:There once was a boy, and I loved him.Logan Francis Silverstone and I were complete opposites. I danced, and he stood still. He was quiet, while I ran my mouth. He struggled to find a smile, and I refused to frown.
The night I saw the darkness that truly lived inside of him, I couldn't look away.
We were broken together, yet somehow whole. We were wrong together, but always right. We were the stars that burned across the night sky, searching for a wish, praying for better tomorrows.
Until the day I lost him. He threw us away with one hasty decision--a decision that changed us forever.
There once was a boy, and I loved him.
And for a few breaths, a few whispers, a few moments, I think he loved me, too.
I honestly didn’t think Brittainy Cherry could ever write a story to even compare to The Air He Breathes. I know she’s absolutely amazing but y’all read that book right?
The Fire Between High & Lo didn’t. There is no comparison- it is equally amazing but in completely different ways. You still “feel” this entire story. When I finished, I sat in shock at how much I loved it and almost felt guilty that I loved it as much as TAHB.
Logan and Alyssa meet as children. From “different sides of the track” so to speak, they start a friendship that lasts for years. Logan lives a rough life. Alyssa lives a different “rough” life.
That’s their bond. Logan feels he’ll never be worthy of Alyssa. Alyssa feels like she can never fix Logan’s demons.
This book follows them throughout their childhood/teenage years until tragedy strikes. It will rip your guts out but in like true Brittainy Cherry fashion- she slowly puts them all back in piece by piece.
Don’t go into this book comparing it to TAHB. I am guilty of it, but it’s truly not fair. Logan and Alyssa’s story deserves to be heard free of any other noise. It’s got that beautiful eloquent unfolding that only Brittainy gives me that can only be compared to pure poetry.
Another 5 star for Miss Brittainy. This story was a breath of fresh air for 2016
