A STARLET REVIEW: THE BITTERROOT INN BY DEVNEY PERRY

Synopsis:

Her past. His secrets. They have more in common than she knows.

Maisy is happily content with the life she’s built for herself and her young son in small-town Prescott, Montana. Her child is thriving, her business is growing, and her family is as close as they’ve ever been. But when a handsome stranger walks into the lobby of her motel, her simple life is swept up in a wave of affection for his gentle heart. None of those feelings can be trusted, though. She made that mistake before with another man. The man she murdered.

Hunter was a different man when he first saw Maisy Holt from afar. He took one look at her and ran in the opposite direction. But years later, he’s back in Montana and unable to keep his distance. He shouldn’t have tried to find her but he never was good at rejecting temptation. The promise of the good she could bring into his life is too hard to resist. Maybe if he can disguise the lies and hide the deceit, he can keep her from learning the truth. Because his only chance at a future with her is by burying his past.

My Review

Seriously I don’t know how to put this one into words… This is literally my favorite book in the Jamison Valley series. The old proverb says “Save the best for last.” That is exactly what Ms. Perry did in my opinion.

If you have followed the whole series you’d know that we met Maisy in the first book.  She endured something that no woman should ever endure.  I don’t want to give away anything in case you haven’t read, so I will be very careful in this review (even if the synopsis kinda tells you)… Maisy has a sweet little boy, she’s standing on her own feet since the “incident” and she’s finally, finally living life the way she should be.  She’s running her Inn and she’s working hard to make it a place people will return year after year during the tourist season.  She’s doing most of the work herself and it gives her a real sense of purpose, along with saving money.  Maisy is just missing one thing… A man…

In walks Hunter!  OMG!  From the moment he’s described in the book I fell hard and fast for him in more ways then one.  This one has instant chemistry but not an insta love or insta jump into bed type story.  This is more of a slow sweet burn that is rewarding once the characters get together.  However something is holding Hunter back, and Ms. Perry eludes to this throughout the book, but NEVER did I see coming what the reveal was, and holy heck is it one heck of a secret!  But I LOVED Hunter all that much more for what he was doing even if at times it felt like he was lying to her.  I forgave him instantly when I learned the truth and the why’s!

Overall this is my favorite book, and I only had one very teeny, tiny pet peeve with this story.  It was the contestant mention of her sons name.  It was a little distracting at times in reading.  But this doesn’t stop me from loving this story or the book, cause it was the PERFECT ending to this series!

If you haven’t started reading these yet, start from the beginning, and if you are waiting to buy this one, DON’T, get it right now it’s worth every sleepless minute I spent reading in the middle of the night!  I for one am a huge fan of Devney Perry and I cannot wait to see what she brings us next!!!
