It’s my name. It’s what I fight for. It’s Frankie.
I’m a fighter. Trained to always keep my cover. To anticipate, see the next hit coming. I never expected her past to come at us swinging like it has.
I’m about to take on two of the most important fights of my life. My girl and the belt. I know that I can handle it. That I’ll never stop fighting. But, what do you do when your life, your love is threatened and you can't take the hits – she has to? You shut your eyes and fucking pray like hell that she’s strong enough, fierce enough to come out on top.
I went to war for her. Now it's her turn.

I have to say that Mandi pulled off the impossible for me. I was very clear about my distaste for Frankie at the end of Love Hurts, I thought that she was really a selfish “B”, so Mandi has her work cut out for her in this sequel, to not only redeem her in my eyes but make me fall in love with her character. I know whatever it’s strange to say that but honestly I need to feel the characters and I need to trust in them and love them to feel passionate about a story. I loved Deacon from the first word’s out of his mouth… From his ultra dominate and over protective natures, I loved everything about him. That being said it wouldn’t matter to me if I ever loved Frankie at all cause Deacon made the book worth reading.
However Mandi accomplished the feat, and made me fall in love with Frankie!!! This sequel will make you want to rip your hair out, it’s no lie. Deacon and Frankie don’t just have a HEA they struggle tremendously through this book. There are moments where you will want to reach into the book and slap them upside the heads. There are moments of sheer terror where you wonder if they will survive whatever it is her Ex was involved in… It’s one crazy ride for sure. I didn’t expect it to be as big of a story line where that was concerned but I should have known better with the cliffy that Mandi left us with at the end of Love Hurts…. Her ex comes back to haunt them in more ways than one, and it’s an unexpected and welcome diversion at times, from all of the angst between Frankie & Deacon.
Frankie and Deacon’s passion continues to be off the charts, but it’s never been the physical side that was an issue for them, it was the emotional and the trust. Frankie grows up a lot during this book and I think you see a new side of her. She’s compassionate and loving, and she’s determined to finally go after what she wants and not make excuses… Not all sequels live up to their potential and I appreciate that Mandi took the time to develop this story into what it is and deliver a sequel that will knock your socks off! I loved every minute of this ride, even when I wanted to get off the train! Get your tissues ready too cause your gonna need them! If you haven’t read Love Hurts it’s a must read because Love Burns is the perfect ending to their story, that you don’t want to miss!!!!
