Synopsis:I am not a victim.
At least that’s what I wanted to believe. What I wanted the world to see. Five years of trying to find the girl I hid from the world.
I wouldn’t let the bullies win. I couldn’t.
What was I supposed to do when he walked into the building? He’d made my high school years a living hell.
But, he doesn’t recognize me.
How do I prove he didn’t break me? Simple, take him home for a one-night stand.
At least it sounded like a good idea at the time.
This was my first Rebecca Brooke read in a long time. I don’t know why cause I love her books, but I gotta say maybe it was a very good thing. This book ROCKED ME!!!!! I was in a slump of some books that I had to DNF because for one reason or another they just were not working for me. Then I got this book and I was literally captivated from beginning to end.
Enemies to lovers is one of my favorite troupes. This book was so well done, that even when you were hating on the hero, Cole, you were loving on him at the same time. Rebecca did an amazing job connecting you to the past while watching Mari struggle with the present. Her idea for revenge was sound, until it wasn’t.
This book proved that people can change, and that not everything is exactly as it seems. Cole might not have been the stand up guy in high school but he will sure make you swoon in the present day. He’s sweet and caring and willing to do just about anything to make up for all the anguish and hurt his friends and sometimes he caused Mari in the past.
I absolutely loved this story of unlikely lovers. Not to mention the band members that surround Mari and their undying devotion and love for her, especially her BFF, bandmate and roommate, Sawyer. He is what every best friend should be and more and I honestly CAN. NOT. WAIT. for his story to come out! I’m so in love with him already!
Bottom line is get this book. Even if you think it’s not something you would typically like. GET. THIS. BOOK!!!!! I was so worth it. Rebecca really tells a wonderful story and I cannot recommend this one enough!
